Playing all tracks on random, I keep getting uncanny combinations like a Neutral Milk Hotel track followed by a Olivia Tremor Control track, Old 97s followed by Rhett Miller, or Pavement followed by Silver Jews.

How does it know? I'm creeped out. Ok, not really, but has this happened to anyone else?

Nicely played. Perhaps Pierce Inverarity got ahold of it.

They have AI and will eventually take over the world.

Edit: Actually, I've uncovered a pattern in how ipod selects tracks/artists on random. I plan on writing a thesis about it and will probably win the Fields Medal this year.

I know both tthorn and I have had songs in our head which show up on shuffle later in the day. Perhaps we are more attached to our possessions than we realize...

I held off till I could get a really good deal on one myself, but man, I love it. I've been mostly rocking the "shuffle all songs" lately - absorbing new stuff can take less effort... if I like it enough to check who it is, it's a keeper. Then a song will come on that I love but totally forgot about, or I'll be surprised by an album I didn't like when I got it but sounds great now. It has truly enriched my sad little life.
