saturday morning my cable connection was iffy, so i decided to pop in my 2004 madden football and plod along with my packer franchise, barely out of the first miserable (4-12) season. i played that thing from before noon til 3:40-ish am the next day, barely stopping to eat or drink or bathroom. i ended up 11-5, trashed the skins in the playoffs before losing to the seadawgs by a td in the champ. that's when i went to bed.

next day it continued. made it through another offseason, as well as the first 8 games of season 3 (6-2). i can't stop, dear abby, i can't stop!

had this bug with warcraft 3. took a vacation and played it 16 hrs of every day on avg. i was called into work to help with a problem and showed up having stayed up 35 hours straight.

i can't throw my life away like this any more. i have responsibilities. i have a wife & 3 cats!! this would drive me to drink if i wasn't stuck in front of my computer!

anyway, i'm not much on playing video games, but now i want 2006 madden, if only to update these rosters and shuck all these fictional rookies carrying my @ss.

with digital track lines,

* r

I used to do this with Tecmo Super Bowl. First when I was in middle school, then my first Senior year in college. I would come home too fucked up to sleep, and just play Tecmo until I could finally sleep. My favorite thing to do would be to substitute one player from WR to RB so he could score every touchdown during a given season, or see if I could hold the other teams to negative offensive yards for an entire season.

Best game ever.

There's a soccer management game called Championship Manager and I'm in my 26th season of my 'career'.

[img][650:488]http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-10/859585/252525.jpg[/img]

TOTAL GAME TIME: 16 DAYS 10 HOURS 19 MINUTES 38 SECONDS

...shit....

i've been playing madden a lot lately. I'm the Bengals and went 10-6. I just beat the Dolphins in the first round.

On shockwave, I'm all about Nikakudori. It's a linear matching game that uses Mah-jongg tiles. Shit haunts me.

shit darrin, you play championship manager? that stuff is a lifekiller. my buddy ari from istanbul got lost in that shit for months and we hardly saw him. we actually had to ban him from playing it or buying the new version so as to preserve his status as a living breathing human being.

the power of soccer compells thee.

Oh yeah. And I take it as serious as real life.

I've won 8 Portugese League Championships at three different clubs and I won the Champions League at provincial club Academica!

Went back to my first club Porto to rebuild their ailing team. 15th in the league at the moment but by damn if I don't have us in Europe in two seasons!

the only bad part is madden himself. his sports cliches, esp. when they don't match the action, are annoying.

this is what i mean by "that stuff is a lifekiller"...but hey, whatever keeps the clock ticking, right? i'd personally rather play FIFA than watch those little blips "run" around the screen, but hey.
