How's this for kind of, I don't know, awkward?
My girlfriend's ex-boyfriend of 4 years,
Yann Perreau - who has got what I estimate to be a fairly sizable audience in the Quebec market, (but I don't really know, I'm Anglais) - just released an album that is by all accounts a breakup record, a wistful, loverly, angry and embittered account of their relationship. With song titles like "J'ai un ile au coeur" (I have an island in my heart), "Goute-moi" (Taste me), and "Elle prefere les voyous" (She prefers bad boys), I'm kind of left scratching my head trying to figure out what the fuck to think. I ain't threatened, but this is just a little weird, isn't it? I haven't listened to it yet, but noticed allusions to her name in the liner notes to "Goute-moi" and had to put it away. "Goute-moi, Ginie-Gin."
Anyway, she's my muse now. (edit: This track is disgusting. You can listen to it at the above-linked website ... )
