Review from last night:
After some frustrating line issues and some delays in letting us in, we (Damen and I) made our way to the center of the Knitting Factory floor. Surround Sound 5.1…this needed to be experienced in its full glory. We made our way to the center of the Knitting Factory floor. The show was sold out and there were many disappointed fans who walked away from the box office window.
Opening act was Daedalus – he was alright, but I was anxious to see my man, Amon. Unfortunately, during Daedalus’ set, I began to feel a bit claustrophobic standing where I was. I was surrounded by people a LOT taller than me, the KF was getting packed and I could barely see anything by this point. So, I ventured upstairs to the balcony for a better view.
Amon got onstage sometime around 10:30pm – looking a bit shaggier and sporting a goatee, my “future husband” looked as great as ever! His usual stoic self was gone this time around – smiling often at the audience, he was having a great time behind the decks and computers. It was apparent that he was loving the moment. The first half of his set was music off the Splinter Cell soundtrack with the rest filled with Tobin-inspired tuneage. From my birds eye view, I couldn’t help but smile often at all the people dancing down below – it was fantastic. The crowd cheered him on and he kept going! God, I love him! For his encore, he played his now infamous Slayer remix which drew the crowd into a frenzy. Arms being thrown into the air and heads banging, it was LOVE!
(For Dri and Damen – saw Seth and Angel. Damen, dunno if you got a chance to see them, I told them that you were downstairs – hope they found you and said “hi”.)
Ohhh…and after all my griping about men, I got groped by a girl last night!! Maybe I should consider changing sides or being a switch-hitter. I was leaning against a rail watching Amon when I suddenty felt an arm wrap itself around me -- a hand caressing my ass and hip. Thinking it was one of my friends, I turned around and found a girl next to me (in case you’re curious, she was cute). She tries to make me think that it was the guy sitting to the left of me. I laugh and say, “I don’t think so.” Thinking it’s not a big deal, I turn around and pay attention instead to what’s going onstage. She places her arm around my shoulder, rests her head on my other shoulder, leans in and asks my name. We introduce ourselves and then she asks – “gimme a kiss!” I laugh, give her my cheek, she kisses it (I gave one of those LA “air kisses”), pats me on the ass and says, “Nice meeting you, thanks!” Just another crazy night in Hollywood.
PS -- Damen, I looked for you, Seth and Angel after the show, but never found you. It was after 12:30am and I needed to get my ass to bed. Sorry that I missed you -- as always, it was great seeing ya!
