I've done it -- I've FINALLY made plans to go on holiday! I leave for Scotland and Ireland on May 18th and return June 1st. Yay, two whole frickin' weeks, baby!! I can hardly wait to get away from everything and just chillllll...

There's a downside, though -- I'm missing out on seeing Melt Banana and M. Doughty while overseas. So, I'm throwing the following offer out to those in the local area -- are you interested in seeing either? Here are the details:

Melt Banana -- May 20th at the Troubadour
M. Doughty -- May 23rd at the Troubadour

Tickets cost me $12 and $15, respectively (plus $2 service charge/each) --- buuuuuuuuut, you can get 'em for a special discounted rate of FREE! If interested, please let me know.

You so deserve this.

Bummer about missing those shows though.

Dude. Going to Scotland and Ireland are waaaaaaaaaay better than any show. So much cool stuff to se. Just try to find a time to go to a show or two over there.

And if you go to Dublin and are into the beer make sure to check out The Porterhouse.

Of course I'm seeing shows over there!! I've already got tickets to see Teenage Fanclub -- that show alone more than makes up for missing Melt Banana and M. Doughty. I'm also gonna see Shane MacGowan, Art Brut, Dogs Die In Hot Cars...and a couple of other shows that I can't remember. I'm still planning my itinerary.

No shows in Dublin, but plenty of beer drinking will be had. ;)

Bumping this to the tippity top for any locals or travelling Obnerites who'll be in the area. Anyone interested? Most of my concertmates are into BritPop and aren't interested in seeing other outstanding musicians. I'd hate to see these tickets go to waste.

Porterhouse recommendation seconded, btw--while it's right downtown, the local/tourist ratio is higher than most b/c there's no brand name guiness. Decent trad-ish music most weekends, and some weeknights, too. At least five years ago all of these things were true.

It's yours, Shelley! We'll call it my "Shell's Moving Back East And Startin' A New Job" gift to you. :)

PM me your last name and I'll make all the arrangements for you to pick up the ticket the day of. All you'll need to do is present ID at the Will Call window and they'll hook ya up.

Anyone for the Mike Doughty ticket?

It's yours, Kyle. PM me with your full name and I'll do the same as above.

Great! I'm glad these tickets are gonna be used and all the better that you two get to use 'em. Thanks!

And you thank us! Gosh.

Hey, I'm going to the Thursday SK gig in June--will I see you there?

I know - I was thinking the same thing. I'll PM you soon with the requisite info.

Possibly - I've seen them (possibly) too many times, though I always end up going to one (if not both) of their gigs whenever they play out here...

and, yes, I'm sure you were asking Aural, but as long as I'm posting...

Ahhh...I don't think I'm going to the Sleater-Kinney gig. I've got tickets to see Athlete that night.
