How does it compare to the last which I thought was probably their best?

I really enjoy this album. To me it feels like they are exactly where they should be in their evolution. It feels like the perfect continuation of Satanic Panic In The Attic, similar style, but with extra flair.

[non sequitor] I saw their old drummer Derrick at the OTC show running the monitor board; apparently, in an exclusive interview, he told me that he doesn't play drums for them anymore. Film at 11[/non sequitor]

this all being said, if i was to open my PM box and a YSI of this album had majically appeared; it would be cool

You know what, Stan, if you want me to wear 37 pieces of flair, like your pretty boy over there Bryan, why don't you make the minimum 37 pieces of flair?

It's kind of pop music in the mold of the Zombies, Beach Boys, and other psychdelic pop bands, but not retro.

Unfortunately, this album only has 13 pieces (17 if you count the bonus disc). It seems they don't really want to express themselves.

P.S. This is my 200th post. Now THAT's flair!

I wouldn't say twee as much as I would say 60's pop. To me, Apples In Stereo are twee, Elf Power and Of Montreal are not.

"Oslo in the Summertime" is fucking brilliant. Just got this in the mail today, and it's all I've been listening to. Ten times better than the new Beck.

I was wondering, what Of Montreal should I get from before Aldhils Arboretun? I really like their newest three cds.

I've really been digging this, and I want to pick it up, but the Tower by my apartment doesn't have it (or Caribou, or Edan...but I digress). It's gotten some mixed reviews, but I really like it.

gay parade is excellent.

coquelicot asleep in the poppies is also really nice. it's a different zone of music, more similar to OTC then their newer stuff, but it's all pretty much excellent.

Sorry, but the original quote was much too sequitor.

I like Of Montreal and thought Satanic was a shitton of fun, but I turned this fucking thing off after six or seven songs. I like Cocquelicot and Adhils Arboretum but this seriously grates on my nerves. It sounds less fun and bouncy and much more nervous and disco addled. Glad I didn't buy this.

Funny, I passed on Of Montreal and Elf Power last night. Amoeba has this listening station thing where it scans the barcode and if the album shows up in their database, you can preview it. I wanted to preview both before buying them, but they weren't in the database.
