OK. This weekend I heard this song in two different places over the course of a couple of days. The first time I heard it I was floored by how miserably awful it was. The second time I was furious. I asked the girl behind the bakery counter, but she was no help.

So it's somethign about a dude meeting a girl and something about midnight. The chorus is something like 'Hey girl come with me.. some garbage. Fuck. It was lodged in my mind and now I can't think of how it went. It's the simplest, lamest chorus ever.

The voice reminds me of that dude who sang that Breakfast at Tifffany's tune a few years back.

I promise, I had to Google it.

O.A.R. (OF A REVOLUTION)
"Hey Girl"

I took this girl out last night and we left around 12,
We walked along lonely streets and got to know ourselves,
I like to read - she likes to write,
She likes to sleep - and I like to stay up all night,
My friends say I'm crazy and I agree,
But that's okay cause that the way she likes to be

Hey girl come with me and let yourself go
Hey girl come with me and let yourself go

Well we went out late that night and we danced through the night
I was holding on to her and she be gripping it tight, she was
But she didn't care, I didn't mind
I was unaware that she liked to act so kind,
My friends say I'm crazy and I agree,
But thats okay cause thats the way I like to be

I say
Hey girl, come with me and let yourself go,
Hey girl come with me and let yourself go, go, go-oh,
Just let yourself go

Later on that night I took her home,
I asked if she felt alright being alone
So I went inside, she didn't mind,
Took two to decide that I wasn't going home tonight
I see we're both crazy, that's alright with me,
The night was kind of hazy that's the way it's gonna be

I say now
Hey girl, come with me and let yourself go,
Hey girl come with me and let yourself go, go, go-oh,
Just let yourself go, go, go-oh,
Just let yourself go, go, go-oh...
Let yourself go

O.A.R. "Hey Girl" from the cd Between Now & Then, which they sold out of their car for like 18 months before it became an AC hit.

They used to be called Of A Revolution. Uhh...which they aren't.

It's chirpy watered-down powerpop at its most insidiously evil.

As you can see by the first-grade level lyrics, the song is about feeling someone up that you took to a club and then taking her home and screwing her.

To a happy, happy, happy, happy beat. And a perky, perky, perky chorus that even Jason Mraz couldn't top.

"Of A Bay City Rollers-lution." Whoop.

That's it. Thanks guys.

I think I can safely say that is the single worst song I've ever heard in my life. Beats that dashboard shit from Meatloaf, beats Tom Sawyer, beats anything Poison ever did, beats I'm Too Sexy, beats EVERYTHING EVER!!!

What a terrible fucking song.

Makes me furious. Someone wrote it. Someone else said 'that's great let's record it.' Someone else said 'I can make this a hit!' AND THEN, and then, someone, many someones presumably, likes it enough to listen to it and buy the record. Awful, just awful.

This same story applies to the Honda Element. WTF?!?!?!!?!? who designs a pile of shit like that, and then what retared of an executive approves it, and THEN a bunch of idiots go out and buy it!!!! When they feed us shit, don't eat! Dammit.

sigh....

The band actually perfomed the song for nearly two years in concerts and sold the CD themselves. So the insidiousness of the tune was self-created, not executive-forged. They had their eyes on the booty prize at frat party concerts all over the nation.

My little brother loves them, and gave me a disc of their stuff because he was so excited about it. So I pop it in thinking I am going to hear something pretty good.

Oh my. It was beyond aweful. I don't understand why people even know their name except to associate it with terrible music.

hey, i've got one too, what are these songs, both male singers:

1) "i would go blah blah , out on the corner standing in the rain OOOOOVOVVVVVVEEEEEERRRRR YYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOUUUUUU"...and then i think that it's def leopard's the flame.

2) "IIIIIIIIII don't wanna be somethingsomething " might be a more irritating maroon 5 or something.

they play on the all-hits station at the gym on a pretty continuous loop, with that vanessa carlton date rape song and that "1985" thrown in there too.

1. Cheap Trick "The Flame"

2. Gavin DeGraw "I Don't Wanna Be" (theme from One Tree Hill)

It doesn't do any good to say "kill me now." I tried that 5 years ago and it didn't work.

i didn't do a good job of conveying it. apparently it's maroon 5's "she will be loved". this song drives me insane it sucks so bad. maroon 5 is my new nemesis.

Oh, yeah. I actually have the album and can't bear that track. They've managed to go from "pretty cool" to "kind of annoying" to "would you please shut the fuck up, already" within the span of three singles. The new one "Sunday Morning" at least has a Stevie Wonder-ish groove to it.
