I've seen them a couple times but never saw Anton's fights, just a threat he made to an audience member. So it was fun to see a couple of em erupt. hehe

Impressions:

Never listened to BJM: Their music sounds great, i thought the film was awesome.

Charli, Anton is pompous for sure, but thats the beauty; so were Jagger/Richards/Lennon etc...Not that i necessarily put Anton in that category, but he is without a doubt a transcendent figure of some sort...

Ahh but it was Courtney who I thought the pompous one. He came across as an asshole. He was the one who always made his band out to be as the rock n roll saviours. Which was plain wrong. I don't think that the Dandy's are a horrible band, heck no. But I didn't like his attitude. And was it just me or did Zia McCabe come off like an alien of sort?? Sometimes when she spoke I wondered what alien language she was using.

Anton just came across as the tortured and talented genius. After seeing the clips with his parents it's no wonder he ended up fucked up. It was just too bad he had to bring his demons upon the rest of the band.

The BJM music is just plain great. They've been one of my favorite bands the past three years since first being introduced to them.

I know from reading that Anton was really angry the way film came out and does not support it at all but I don't think he came out as the bad guy. Just someone with a problem and really struggling to stay afloat.

oops; yeah reread that; courtney taylor=gar but i think the guy did work hard to make his band "great" in his eyes; Zia McCabe? Whoa. Alien is a kind way of saying, "Bitch, pick a look and stop obviously using hair extensions and bad clothes/piercings to make yourself cool. Although i did like how her boobies bounced around in her early tambourine days... Oh, and if those keyboards were actually plugged in then I'M FUCKING KEITH RICHARDS....

I think some of them were. I think he knew how much of a reaction he was getting from fans/audience members that he picked the fights because that's what they wanted to see.

Now don't get me wrong, I do think much of it was just his losing complete control on stage. But after a while yeah, it was the audience screaming it to him to start something. Which I know first hand after having been at a show where the audience members were baiting him and him finally yelling to shut the fuck up that he wasn't going to do that anymore.

Plus I once dated a guy who was earlier written up in a GLoNO review by Derek Phillips as the moron who baited Anton and threw a beer bottle at him onstage only to have Anton jump into the audience at him only to have them both restrained and the guy thrown out of Schubas by the bouncer. ha

So yeah, they want him to do it.
