If so, did you happen to pick up the AC/Black Dice tour split? And if so, is it worth its cost, whatever was the cost? I'm going to see just the former half of the split tomorrow night - yippee - and am curious if I should endeavour to own it ...

I'm so curious to see how Animal Collective translate to the stage (particularly the material on Sung Tongs). And Gang Gang Dance is replacing Black Dice. I at least like their name.

I saw them play to a series of avant garde films at Anthology Film Archives back in March. It was the absolute perfect setting as most of the films that Animal Collective played to had a nature theme. Granted they were playing with the entire band at the time, and I think they're touring only with Avery Tare and Panda Bear now. It was hypnotic and strange and catchy and arhythmic and all rhythm at the same time.

I'm really interested in seeing them.

For the Atlanta folks, they're playing the Drunken Unicorn this coming Sunday at 8pm with Gang Gang Dance.

I've heard different things about both Gang Gang Dance's and Animal Collective's live performances. From what I've heard about AC, their show leans a little towards the jammy side, and unfortunately, they don't try to replicate the vocal harmonies from Sung Tongs in a live setting. I've heard totally opposing accounts of GGD, but the only review I've read of them on this current tour was positive. It should at the very least be interesting and fun.

a bunch of my pals went to see them earlier this week. i think all but 2 came away hating them. i guess their live presentation is different than on record..? i haven't really sat down with their stuff yet, so...no opinion here.
