he makes fun of him for pandering to his audience and dressing like a redneck when he's really rich.

i found this ironic.

it was a very brief side note in an article about Larry the Cable Guy.

i like David Cross, but dude dresses like a shlubby indie rocker and panders to his shlubby indie rock fans

david cross is one of my favorite comics....(next to bill hicks)

and i hate larry the cable guy....

its much funnier to laugh with someone at a stupid redneck (and by stupid redneck i mean george bush) than it is to laugh at a stupid redneck's jokes

Larry's not really stupid. It's a performance. He's reallly named Dan and is from Nebraska. Not that rednecks don't come from Nebraska, it's just that the Larry character is just a character.

Monetarily, Larry is Trump to Cross' Bill Rancic (or whatever that guy from the 1st year of The Apprentice's name is).

according to the article, Larry had last years highest grossing comedy tour, far more than Chris Rock or Jeff Foxworthy (not sure how much they toured vs how much he toured)

Five years ago, Larry was doing gigs like Holiday Inn lounges. I interviewed him up in this backwater, even.

This year, his CD was the first comedy disc to EVER debut at #1. Not even Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby, Bob Newhart, George Carlin, Richard Pryor or Cheech & Chong ever did that.

So, yeah, he's making some money.

All bc of 'git 'er dun'? This could potentially explain why America was so taken with Y. Smirnoff's forever amusing 'I love deez cuntree' outbursts.

As they say, don't hate the player, hate the game. I'll take the Loogar/Bloor standpoint in that you have to admire the guy for gettin his hustle on and selling his "git r dun" to the american public and getting PAID. He played to the idiots and that's what sells the most in this country.

That being said I still can't believe people actually went to their local Wal Mart and actually forked over the $12 to listen to this guy's "entertainment".

Spoon, if that's true that's amazing. I simultaneously admire him for pulling that off and weep for this country's collective IQ level.

I've never even heard Larry the Cable guy routine except from other people shouting Git R Done, which is utterly annoying. But I've never found Cross to be particually funny either.

Who's the other guy that was on that recent tour with Larry The Cable Guy & Jeff Foxworthy? He is not funny at all.

ron white? goddamnit i watch waay too much comedy central.

that show, by the way, sucks ass. i can respect the guy for cooling (hoodwinking! bamboozling!) america into thinking he's funny, but that show is so fucking dumb it makes madtv look highbrow.

hey, there are peopl on this board that watch madtv. i don't really get it, but i can respect that. That blue collar tv show is like hee haw 2000 without the inbred charm and rampant moonshine jokes.

i'm sure their standup has its moments. this show, however, does not.

I've never heard of larry the cable guy.

I'm a big fan of David Cross, but sometimes his "everyone's an idiot but me" shtick gets tiresome. But don't you dare say anything bad about mr. show with bob and david.
