So last night I went ahead and watched "Bend It Like Beckham" - 'swas ok, but what really hit home was the soundtrack. I've always liked bhangra, and bollywood and the updated club versions of both styles, but it put me in the mood to go on a tear on soulseek.

Other than Bally Sagoo, Nitin Sawhney, and Talvin Singh is there anybody else out there you all could recommend to fufill my need of Tabla? For I've got the fever for the flavor of.... more cowb...Tabla.

I also began re-researching for some top quality Qwwali music too, but it is much less danceable than bhangra. But If you've got suggestions other than Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and clan then fire off some suggestions there as well.

not sure if this will help, but...

DJ Shadow's & Automator's 'Bombay The Hardway"

Notes
Classic Bollywood soundtrack funk from Kalyanji V. Shah & Anandji V. Shah (Bollywood's most prolific soundtrack composers during the 70's) spiced up a bit with the help of hip-hop producer Dan The Automator and crate-digger, musician, DJ and producer Josh Davies (AKA DJ Shadow). Also includes some cool dialogue from the movies. This is superb. Highly Recommended.

Yeah, i've sampled that album a bit. Its ok, but nothing really spectacular. I've got some Indian and Pakistani students who hook me up with stuff occasionally, but I'm still wanting some of that stuff that just seems primed for modern dancefloors, but is still in hindi, and still seems authenticly South asian I guess.

I asked around for similar music recently, I can lead you to Karsh Kale, and the Asia Massive sounds of bands like State of Bengal, let me know what you come up with.
