There are many, many that don't actually have a "The" in their names.

From (the) Beach Boys to (the) Rolling Stones to (the) Eagles up to (the) Counting Crows to (the) Eels.

Sometimes "The" changes the meaning of the band's name. Like Counting Crows. It's supposed to be a verb.

used to be, Smashing Pumpkins. I remember when they added the "The" to their name in '95--I was so intensely angry. I felt as if they were violating themselves somehow. It's kind of amazing looking back now, just how acutely incensed that made me. I'm not sure if I ever fully got over that.

I realize how strange this sounds.

And band names that would be modestly improved by the addition of the definite article:

etc.

And two bands that enjoy the definite article so much they use it twice:

The The
The Del Fuegos

but all these names sound worse with 'the'....?

Well, Talking Heads went so far as to point out the distinction in an album title...not that it did much.

And I still refer to them as Jesus & The Mary Chain, just because it pisses everyone off.
