and i'm not talking about songs that have five minute gaps of silence and then start up again. Songs that go for the full track time.

NOFX - The Decline clocks in at 18 minutes and 18 seconds.

Yeah, I gota give the nod to Bob Dylan, I mean, anyone can jam for 18 minutes, Ol Bob has VERSES for 6-8-10 minutes.

I think it was Lump that slagged it, but Lily, Rosemary and The Jack of Hearts is like 7:34 of greatness...always thought it would make a cool movie.

Try remembering all the words to that, Idiot Wind and and Hurricane.

My favourite track of all time is 17 minutes 26 seconds long. That track being 'Sister Ray' by the Velvet Underground.

Lift To Experience's 'With Crippled Wings' is just a couple of seconds short of 10 minutes.

The Doors 'The End' is 11 minutes 42 seconds.

Pete Namlook - Tragedy [76:28]

Mind you it's ambient, so it's a drifting piece of music.

Black Dice has at least one song (the title of which escapes me at this moment) that reaches fifteen minutes in length.

How about the Guinness Book of World Records' "World's Longest Pop Song," at just shy of 69 minutes?

Chris Butler - The Devil Glitch

From AMG:
"...More as a joke than anything else, Chris Butler spent three months writing a song that ended up being 69 minutes long, with no instrumental breaks and no repeated lyrics. Butler then recorded the song live in one take, singing and playing acoustic guitar with a three-piece band backing him for the first 11 and last five minutes of the song. Butler then broke the song up into two- to five-minute chunks and passed those out to various musician friends, who added their own instrumentation and vocals. Reassembling the whole thing over the course of a year and a half, Butler ended up with the world's longest pop song, as certified by the 1998 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records. However, most observers neglect to mention one salient fact about this song: it's really good..."

They're right--it's catchy and funny; if you're a fan of both power pop and Philip Glass, you might like it.

songs by The Locust are too long... I can hardly ever make it through their long-winded sprawling albums...
