their official website as well as pitchfork declare a new album is in the works for this summer, which places me somewhere between very and extremely excited. hopefully i'll be able to catch them live this time around, which i can only imagine is as incredible as the recordings themeslves.

I hope it's better than The Slow Wonder.

I hope it's better than Electric Version, cause that one wasn't up to snuff. The good word has it that Mr. Bejar will be more involved on this affair, which guarantees both genius songwriting and the most elfen voice this side of Johanna Newsome.

The hell you say!

I was interested in checking out A.C. Newman's solo disc after todays Pitchfork blurb, but then I remembered the thing that makes The New Pornographers awesome is Neko Case.

(allmusic gave it 4.5 and pfork gave it high numbers too)

Yeah, the night I saw them they were really meh. Uninspired, low energy - I was really disappointed. I'd like to believe it was just an off night, though.

I thought the same thing about the Neko Case influence & didn't bother listening to the A.C. Newman until it was loaded onto my iPod by Santa, but it's now in heavy rotation. I definitely like it more than Electric Version, and there are a couple songs (Town Halo, Come Crash) that I can't get enough of.

AC Newman - top 3 record of last year (for me)...
I think that Neko's vocals sometimes distract from the NP songs on "Electric"...
And, yes, I did give good ol' Dan Bejar too much credit on the NP tip - AC is a VERY good songwriter. I mean, he's still no Destroyer, but few of us are...

If I ranked the songs on Electric Version from best to worst, Bejar's songs wouldn't even squeeze into the top 7.

I like this news.

Also, The Slow Wonder was a top five disc for me and I still love it.

Who gives a fuck how they are live? Both albums kick major ass. I was kinda meh on Electric Version at first, but it really grew on me. The First one was probably my most played record of 2003**

**Or second to Room On Fire...Now when the fuck does the new Strokes record come out?

I've seen them three times and every show was full of energy and much merriment.

That new song sounds great. Can't wait for the new album!
