Ok guys, as a great deal of you know, this June I will be leaving this computer (and obner) as I will be working at a camp out on the Oregon Coast all summer, shown here just to brag:

Ok. Anyway. The point is, apart from being away from you guys, I will be away from the music scene, for the better part of 3 months. I have accepted this fact, it's just hard to grasp. Especially given that the summer months usually are when I listen to the most new music, from which I generate my Top 50 lists. Point is....rather than spend this next month of May desperately downloading all I can. I was rekindling my love with "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo" and I just made a vow:

I am not going to download a single album during the month of May.

And I realize that means I have 2 days. It's crazy. Really crazy for me, who probably downloads more than just about any of you. I will limit my purchases greatly too.

Reasons I am doing this:
1. To see if I can
2. I have a ton of shit I need to listen too that I never give my full attention
3. To prep myself for the summer months by ensuring that my mp3 player is full with the best album choices, and making sure that I'm only bringing cds that matter. (if any at all).

Here's what I want from you:
I want each of you that read this rec about 3 albums that I need. Since it is aiming for late spring, and then into summer...I would prefer albums in the vein of: Classic/Country Rock, Reggae, Country, World, and Summer music in general...stuff that I will be able to put on at camp and just be thrilled. (For instance, I had every Bjork album on my mp3 player, but I deleted all but Debut and Post, because I don't think I'll want to listen to them in the coming months.) But this doesn't mean Electronic albums or whatever are exempt, cuz I have a ton that I plan to leave on. I have a large collection in general, but lots of you guys and gals have much more, especially that I don't know. So recc away, and if you think i'll have trouble finding it (i probably will)...then you guys should also do me the task of hooking me up.

This should be grand.

the microphones - any of his albums, but especially mount eerie.

regionally appropriate music that would embrace & be enhanced by the local ambient sounds: waves in the background, seagulls, wind in the pines, et cetera.

how often do people really shit on widespread panic? i feel like everytime anyone brings up a jam band they preface it with "you guys hate this" and then the malestrom never materializes.

fair enough. do you agree, though, that they might be just the ticket for a misty evening on the mossy oregon coast, as waves come in under a bank of soft fog?

Home in Your Heart-The Best of Solomon Burke. Don't know if you're into Soul but this album has been doing it for me for quite some time now.

Tanya Stevens is the new new thing here in the Caribbean, and honestly, one of the better songwriters of the last decade.
