cold roses/ ryan adams and the cardinals

ryan-adams.com

i got a hold of it a coupel days ago. i really like it, but have only listened to it twice. much more alt-country leaning, i'd say its closer to whiskeytown's 'pneumonia' and 'love is hell' than 'stranger's almanac.' it's definitely not 'rock n roll' which is a good thing. :)

you mean it's not punk? I figured that's where he'd be by now.

Dude knows where his bread is buttered and after the lambasting he took by critics for Rock N Roll (his first critical flop I believe) it doesn't surprise me he's going back to the alt-country. Which is fine by me.

I never really thought of it like that, but I guess you are right. Let it Ride is a pretty good song, but what do I know, I'd put Rock N Roll near the top of his ouvre, and I'ma fan.

Great to hear. After Ben Folds latest I need one of the singer-songwriters I really like to come through with something good.

To be fair, the whole album is 18 songs total and I would guess that none of them are overly long. It could be the same type of deal with Wilco - Being There, where he could have fit the entire album onto one disc, but chose to split it up for sequencing purposes or something.
