Smokey/Smoke Dog - smart-ass nickname given to me by the Senator and Bloor a long time ago because I would NEVER buy the pot, just smoke theirs all the time.

Overnight camp:
"Beaver"
(started as a taunt, when I was younger, but I eventually became "respected", due to my domination of the camp game: 4-square)

H.S.:
"Traub/Throb"
From my time on the swim team, just a shortening of my last name, and a sophmoric play on the shortening.

"Easy"
At the hot dog stand where I worked. I was kinda excitable and the older guys were always telling me to "Take it easy."

"Chickenlips"
I forgot about this one. From some friends on the X-country team. I still have no idea what it means. The guys who started it were Mexican immagrants, though so I'm not sure if it was based on something from there.

Welp, our buddy Rick saddled me with the nickname of "Lurch," but I fought it off and now really only him and a few others call me that.

Mow/Mao - like Todd a shortening of my last name

Big Dave -- GENIUS!!

Diamond Dave -- Oh God, the story behind this is too much even for you people.

College/Faternity:
My "secret" frat name was:
"Neanderthal"
I slouch. Funny, huh?

High school:
Big Mac - main high school nickname assigned by freshmen English teacher
Bravo Bravo Mike - military letter-speak for BBM (Big Bad McGinnis), used by freshman social studies teacher when he sent me on errands
Tuba - 'cause I played it in band.
Cheap Thrills - because I was terrible at suck-and-blow
TFO - "The Fucking Obilerator" from senior year retreat. Can't give details at it would break confidentiality rules and such.

College:
Sketchy - weighed in at 300+, long hair, massive sideburns, wore a lot of black stuff and flannel. What would you call me? (Sketch became my radio handle as a result of calling my show "Sketchy Monday").
Son of Guinness - I drank quite a bit of my namesake. still do.

Didn't really have any childhood nicknames.
My name is pertty short already.

Since my early 20s various people have taken to calling me "Kitty". Even people at one of my past jobs started calling me that. Guess it's kind of natural given my past life as a cat.

The variation on that is my bro calling me a "crabby lion" when I wake up in the morning.

Oh...almost forgot... my Mum calls me "Polly"... duh(!)

Cheepers or Cheeps -- name given to me by my Pops when I was a wee Aural Fixation in diapers. I don't recall him ever using my given name.

umm Cotton

others:
Weed (as in stuck out like one, those assholes)
Cos (shortening of the last name)
Booger (older brother)
Brak (not a nickname so much as a zonk name, which is much, much worse, and still used quite frequently by some)
Rotten/Lord Rotten (rhyming is fun)

'Douglas'

my friends uncle was a bit of a old school wack job, and just refused to believe my name was Dov, so he just referred to me as Doug all the time....So eventually, my friends started calling me Doug or Douglas. silly.

My older brother gave me a couple when I was a young lass that him and my younger brother still call me to this day:

Mona J Kona (do NOT ask, I still don't get that one)- They call me Mona all the time.

My dad nicknamed me Guinevere when I was little too(he wanted to name me that but my mom said no) and he usually calls me that and not by my real name.

As a child, Spider Monkey, because I was skinny as a stick.
In high school, Wire, from very curly hair. And then Bwana, after getting shot in a hunting accident.

elementary/jr. high - "Skipper" - too many Mikes in class. My dad called me this and friends were always over, so it kinda stuck.

high school - "Swee' Pea" - I was a small guy and played football with finesse (i.e. wasn't crazy about concussions), so my High School coach pinned this one on me.

college/frat - "Aunt Jemima" - you don't want to know.

Squirrgle, actually. I have a friend in Denver who has, in all probability, never used my actual name. If I didn't have a cellphone, and he had to call somewhere and ask for me, I don't know what he'd do. "Is, uh, squirrle there?"

At age 5, "little man," because I talked like a grownup I guess. Friends parents always called me that. "C'mere, littleman."

Nana... I don't know where that came from, except as an alteration of Dana (it had nothing to do with me acting like a grandmother)
D (which still is used today)
Archive (because of my vast knowledge of 80s music which always comes in handy when I get a drunk phone call from one of my friends asking me the answer to a trivia question)

i was always left out of the nicknames in high school/college because i already had Cotton. That pissed me off because I've never really thought of Cotton as a nickname. That pissed me off.
