Thanks Stu, I liked:

"I think it's partly down to the internet and messageboards," says Lamacq. "Originally it made everyone a critic - now it's made everyone an A&R man."

The Hives caught the mood with their knowingly titled 2002 breakthrough album, Your New Favourite Band, then found for themselves how easy it is to become an old favourite band. Music fans increasingly want one-night stands rather than lastng love affairs.
"As a consumer we've got a brilliant record, we've had some great singles, we've seen some great gigs and it's over," says Lamacq. "The only people who suffer from a firework career are the band themselves, who are just charred remains in somebody's back garden after two years."

np: engineers - S/T (picked up in America, out soon)

I really liked this article and wanted to see what others think about cookie cutting artist of today. It not really only about British bands but is about Rock bands of today. I have been thinking about it because of this Boo Radleys’ Anthology that is coming out. Most bands aren’t as good as they once were but I still love music, so what are you going to do? I accept it and the Super Furry Animals are still around so…

Found some feedback here and I’m really starting to appreciate ilx because the writers from Pitchfork, Stylus, and others in the business seem to hang out there. This is also great because the writer of the article is thrown into the mix: http://ilx.p3r.net/thread.php?msgid=5742747

Meanwhile this appears on NME the next day but I want to hear this band:
