i haven't really been paying attention but it looks like the Reds caught the business end of a 6-run comeback to the face last night. i hear the yanks suck too. who's pitching well, who's not? hitters too, are the white sox for real? i need to get caught up quick.

John Garland for the White Sox and Dontrelle Willis for Florida are dominating. The Yanks had their worst April since 1984 I think and Johnson hasn't started pitching well yet. A-Rod had a 3 HR, 10 RBI game last week. The Oriols are off to a great start led by Brian Roberts and Miguel Tejada.

The White Sox and the Orioles are red hot right now.

It's still early though and nodody is more than 5-6 games up on anyone.

Marlins have a solid staff and the usual suspects are pitching great.

I just know Derek Lee had a ridiculous April. Clint Barnes, the shortstop for the Rockies is looking like rookie of the year so far batting over .400 for April and becoming the only rookie to do it since Willie Randolph and Andres Galaraga.

But, like I said, it's early.

EDIT: Prompted by Steve's post, the NL East should be an insane race this year.

Pedro is pitching damn great for the Mets. Piazza is off to a really slow start. I'm thinkin' next year he's in the AL as a designated hitter.

That relief pitcher giant for the Tigers - what's that dude's name? he's like 6'7' and 270 pounds. Freaked me the hell out last night. Made David Ortiz look like Webster.

the cubs are pretty fucked right about now. they should have taken the series vs. the astros, if it wasn't for that 5th inning implosion. they have zero bullpen. they have no idea who their closer is. every time they get above .500, they bring it back down. man oh man

Cardinals are kicking arse and taking names. Now if only our pitching can hold up and, specifically, Isrenghausen can be a solid closer.

I know dude. Great series though, all 1 run games and great pitching.

If the Braves can get their offense on par with their pitching we'll be MUCH better than I thought we would be. That's also the story of Braves......sigh.

The opposite is usually true for the Cardinals. Awesome offense but pitching needs work.

i believe that particular snag took away a homer from garret anderson, who happens to be on my fantasy team. is it bad that i thought of what was taken away instead of the majesty of that catch? and i'm a fan of defense!

Wearing that jersey seems to put an injury target on your back. What about Wood as a closer when he comes back. He can't take innings as a starter, and we need a closer. I think Latroy has been pretty decent this year, but if we had a lights out closer than Latroy could really sure up the set up.

What's your take on "THE SHAKE UP?" I'm kinda stunned, really. I always thought their acquisition of Womack was curious, although he provides some great speed on base.

Well, Nomar was due to a season-wrecking injury after almost 2 straight years of semi health. :|

Seriously though, Kerry Wood. Big "fan of baseball" sigh with that kid.

wood has no idea where the ball is going once it leaves his hand. so, i can't imagine him being any better than latroy as the closer. but yeah, first and foremost they need to bolster the bullpen. even w/ the nomar and walker injuries, the offensive lineup is still damn good.

i imagine that the cubs will try to trade wood (possibly to texas?) between now and next year.
