Just got back about an hour ago from San Diego after seeing British Sea Power perform at The Casbah. (Btw, first time to that venue -- dunno what took me so long to go, I dug it and have been officially devirginized.)

BSP played a 16 song set complete with old and new -- mostly old. New songs sounded great live! Not a sold out show, but it seemed that many in attendance had also done the drive from LA to SD. Had a pretty decent turnout by the time the band went onstage. BSP gave a stellar performance as is their style and had everybody sweatin' by the end of their show.

To tell ya the truth, I wasn't certain what to expect. IMO, the new album is more "mature" compared to their first one -- softer, more melodic vs the pronounced guitars on the first album. But, as I stated previously, the new songs came off great and fit in aces with their older stuff.

The show would've been better if a certain lame drunken asshole hadn't been in attendance. Spilling his cocktail all over my back and shouting "Carrion" every single minute to the band became old very quickly. Fuckin' 20-something year olds who don't know how to handle their liquor deserve to be bitchslapped...that's all I gotta say. Even after the band played the song, he was still shouting it. Idiot.

It's 4:40am now, I think I'll get some sleep. G'night.

I like the new album, but geez, when did BSP become Keane? It's nothing like their debut.

Agreed. The magic of the debut is missing. I like the new album, but in a totally different way. I LOVED the Decline of BSP.

Maybe I'm going out on a limb, and maybe I didn't listen as well as I should have, but I like the new one better than the 1st...I have pretty much had it in my car for the last month or so...Changed all of the other disks except that one...But it could just be me..

I don't know the band well enough to comment, but anyone acting like that in a show really sucks.

Dude, even the band acknowledged the asshole by telling him the song was on the list. At one point, Yan (lead singer) showed him the list, but the idiot just grabbed it, threw it back on the stage and said "I know it's on the list, mutha fucker, who cares?" Grrrrrr!!!

Everyone was telling this guy to shut up. Some poor girl behind us even told him, "Hey, man, quiet down, you're ruining this experience for me!" It didn't work, he didn't care. I would've punched him, but I didn't want MY experience ruined either.
