Just wondering what this band is like live with AND without Pete Doherty from someone who has seen them in both incarnations.

Just read the article on them in the new RS (you know, the Trevor Hance issue?) and it piqued my interest in their live show because i think their records are pretty boss...

Saw 'em twice without Pete. First time, smaller club, much more energetic band, new guitarist is fuckin' great, audience was fairly ballistic throughout the entire set. Second time, longer set, much larger club, Carl was not as enthusiastic, guitarist still rocked, audience was energetic, nonetheless.

My advice: Go, see them. If you dig their music, you'll enjoy the performance.

re: new guitarist- he's from Boston. His name is anthony. we all know him.
