I couldn't cut it as a diehard Bosox fan because I differentiate between Steinbrenner's need to meet an unfortunate demise and the team's. Got nothing against most of the individual Yankees.

Everyone is a big talker in May... Season is not 1/5th done...Let's re-evaluate in October....

the wheels seem to be falling off right now, but anyone who thinks the Yanks are gonna be this bad throughout the whole season is just foolish....

You guys are getting awful mouthy given that Shilling and Wells are both on the dl, and you'd barely be above .500 if you hadn't just had a 3 game series against Detroit. If the season ended today, the redsox wouldn't be in the playoffs either.

That said, the Yankees really do f'n suck right now. I've never seen them play this horribly and I rooted for them when Andy Hawkins was their ace pitcher. I really just don' t get it. I thought this was the type of team that would have the potential to win 105+ games and run away with the division. I thought the bullpen would be one of the best in the league and instead they're terribly inconsistent to be kind. Kevin Brown looks great after the first inning, problem is he always put the Yankees so far behind in the first inning that they're already out of the game and it just doesn't matter.

Matsui after starting great hasn't been hitting for shit. This used to be a team that always found a way to win and this year they always seem to find a way to lose. If they get a good start, the bullpen fucks it up or they can't score. Sheffield's stats have been good but he's not clutch like last year and his power is way down. Jeter's really been the only guy whose been consistently good all year. I feel sorry for Randy Johnson. He must be thinking this isn't what I signed up for when I left the Diamondbacks. Arizona is actually competitive this year so far.

I'm sure they are going to go on a winning streak at some point but this is just painful to watch. I may have to take a break from watching the games everyday or I'm going to end up with an ulcer.

Brian Roberts: .372 BA/ 8 HR / 27 RBI / 24 R / 12 SB / .664 SLG / 1.109 OPS

Not bad for a guy making $390,000 a year.

How are you Cubs fans liking Jerry Hairston and his $1.8M pricetag?

oh, i see. the sox would have lost more games if their opponents were better? i guess not everyone has to have as tough a schedule as the yankees, who just dropped 3 of 4 in tampa.

also, regarding it being early in the season and we will see in october... get real. how long does it stay early in the season exactly? and who is underperforming for the yankees and can be expected to play better anytime soon? no one.

All I'm saying is as absolutely horrible as the yankees have played so far, and its painful to watch how bad they've been. They are still only 5 1/2 games back from the redsox with 134 games left to play. And three games ago (redsox won three straight against the tigers and yankees lost three straight against the d-rays), they were 2 1/2 games back, less than a series. Its so f'n early to panic.

I still frankly expect the Yankees to have a better record at year end than the sox but this early season slump is really painful to watch. Not even so much cause they are losing but because they are really just playing horrible baseball.

And you're statement that the yankees don't have anyone whose underperforming that will play better is pretty laughable. Jeter is probably the only major player who clearly DOESN'T qualify as an answer to that. Even A-rod who has great stats hasn't been consistent.

No, no you are right. I stand corrected....

29 games into our season.. guess, we should bring up all the rookies....clearly there is little hope of making up the 7 games back we are in the next 133 games we play.....

crap, how this season flew....

wow, ya win one title in nearly a century, and they think they earned the right to brag bout anything.
