I just wanted to pass this along because I've seen some love for them here at Obner.

For me, The Posies and a handful of other 70's influenced artists that came out around the same time in the early nineties such as Jellyfish, Matthew Sweet, and Lenny Kravitz's Let Love Rule, really expanded my appreciation for other forms of "rock" music. Prior to this I spent a great deal of time listening to metal and industrial bands but after getting The Posies Dear 23 and Frosting On The Beater it really changed me and how I felt about music. As result, for better or for worse, I began to broaden my music horizons.

Anyways, they are going to be releasing a new album on Rykodisc soon and I thought I'd share an mp3 of theirs from it that I like called "Conversations"...

Cool.. Thanks my Hawaiian friend!

This song rocks...

I have always loved the Auer/Stringfellow harmonies.

The Alex Chilton/Jody Stephens/Jon Auer/Ken Stringfellow version of Big Star have a studio album coming out on Rykodisc sometime in the next few months, too.

I'm counting the days till the album is released.

They did an interview/acoustic performance on KEXP last week.

theposies.net had the acoustic performance and the songs they spunned from the new album for download but it seems the links are down.

I think you can still hear the whole interview from the KEXP archives tough.

Not only that, but Jon Auer has a long anticipated, first full-length solo album due out on Pattern 25 Records soon called Songs From The Year Of Our Demise.

I'm excited about that as well.
