Would such a concept be feasible?

With the advent of dvd's, most movies have been sectioned off into universally-decided scenes, chapters, or "tracks". Would it be possible to rip just one scene from a dvd to the computer?

From there, you could make someone a dvd mixtape. You could just make it a video music mixtape with various music videos put together.

Or you could take it one step further and actually take various scenes from assorted films and put them together into one long pseudo-movie.

It would more likely than not fail to tell a cohesive story but, if you worked at it, you could probably find ways to seg from one movie to another, maybe highlighting some of your favorite action sequences of the last few years. Or throw in some inside jokes from your favorite comedy or your favorite lines from a recent drama.

You could make a veritable mixtape of one director, showcasing some of his best films' best scenes. Or you could just go completely random, with something like:

03. Rushmore - Sudden Death Academic Probation
04. The Graduate - Fear & Lust
05. Closer - Sad Strangers
06. Chasing Amy - Bluntman And Chronic; Chasing Amy

i used to do this with VHS tapes all the time. It would be kung-fu and standup mixed with bits of mr. show, warren miller movies, leboswki, monty python, looney tunes.... shit i miss doing that. i bet i still have a few of the tapes lying around

oh yeah. how else do you think i'd have the patience to sit through countless hours of kung-fu and anime with my finger on the "record" button of the VCR remote?

my friend used to make just kung fu mix tapes, i like the idea, but could never sit t hrough the whole thing.

but kung fu mixed with stand up and lebowski . . . i could watch that all day.
