I love the guy, and it's hard to pick just one, but man, i've gotta go with the grimey funk of "Vicious". there's something so sleazy about it, i just love it.

what are some of your favs?

If you count VU, I love Heroine and What Goes On.

Don't have a lot of his solo stuff but I've always liked Satellite of Love. I wish I could be more original but it is a great song...

Side note: Katie, A Princess and I saw him hanging out with David Bowie at the opening night of "The Pillowman" on Broadway. We walked right past them during intermission. It was part of my "perfect weekend in NYC" weekend a month or so ago.

"Caroline Says" will probably always be my favorite, though anything off Blue Mask could work here, too.

"I'll Be Your Mirror"
by a landslide.
One of the most beautiful songs (both in sound and sentiment) that I have ever heard.

Forgot about that one I think because Nico sung it for VU. Great, great song.

Difficult question, for his solo stuff, I'm a big fan of his whole 'New York' album I bet this past winter I spun that every other day, but Dirty Blvd is one of my all time favourites for any artist. And also Perfect Day is amazing. For VU, I'd have to go with White Light White Heat or Waiting for the Man for sleaze, but for his softer stuff, probably I'll Be Your Mirror or Candy Says.

I think it's his best, although, I know many here think differently.

As good as I'll Be Your Mirror is, I have to go with Wild Child.

man i totally forgot about that album. good stuff.

are we doing Lou Reed or VU stuff? Because if Vu is included here my list would shift dramatically.

Satellite of Love and Perfect Day can make any mix more mongerous.

I must confess, I really haven't heard as much Lou Reed as I probably should.... but I have always liked "There Is No Time" and "Good Evening Mr. Waldheim".

"Good Evening.." has the distinction for me as as being the Lou Reed song that most reminds me of The Strokes now when I hear it...

really hard call...I'll just list a few of my faves from his solo catalog in no particular order...

Kicks
Berlin
Street Hassle
The Power of Positive Drinking
The Kids
Lisa Says
Last Shot
New Sensations
Halloween Parade
Perfect Day
Wild Child

Lots more good stuff. Shame they haven't put out a really good compilation of songs for people that don't wanna dig into such an extensive catalog, but all the comps of his stuff I've seen seem pretty spotty, but his stuff is so varied, I guess that may be inevitable.

The Loaded version of "Sweet Jane" is one of my all-time favorite songs by anybody. Lou's solo work blows dead crows.

Rad, i thought you'd be into it. why ya think it stinks?

I love his solo material, and prefer much of it to VU actually [especially his s/t, transformer and ecstacy].
