Manitoba --> Caribou
Dinosaur --> Dinosaur Jr.
Chunk --> Superchunk
Green Jello --> Green Jelly (!)
Suede --> The London Suede
The Dust Brothers --> The Chemical Brothers

*The Inalienable Right to Eat Fred Astaire's Asshole --> Butthole Surfers

*okay so I don't think there was ever a lawsuit, i just think it's the funniest bandname of all time and had to include it.

Although, they did get an injunction to stop them from calling their EP "Creamed Corn From The Socket Of Sammy Davis Jr."

Also not a lawsuit, but The Band originally signed with Capitol Record as "The Crackers" Capitol management didn't understand the name but eventually figured it out and asked them to change it.

As I recall there was a group called S.P.A.M. (acronym for something completely different from meat) that was threatened by Hormel. Don't know what they changed their name to.

That's true, they were pretty much finished after Razorblade Suitcase and it was after that, they dropped the 'X'. I always wondered why use an X? Why not Bush UK ? I always thought of Nat X whenever I heard them, 'cause The Man made them get the X.

I believe Luna had a superscript number 2 following their name on their first release, Lunapark? Might be wrong.

REO Speeddealer --> Speeddealer

Dunno about John Cougar Concentration Camp or Furious George, but I imagine both of them at lease received some kind of threats/notification through the years.
