Remember the good ol' days when life was simpler? When things weren't so complicated? When life was EASY? Neither do I. Life has always blown, unless of course you're a rich white dude with Tom Cruise looks. To compensate, we gravitate toward music when we feel sad or happy, when a void needs filling or a sexual yearning needs splurging. We use music like a tool, a means to an end. We like to emotionally connect with music so that it becomes ours; it becomes part of our identity. If you make fun of my favorite song, you're essentially making fun of me.

Well, it's all ending right here and right now! No more connecting, no more identifying with the music. We're going to start listening to music without having to give an inch of ourselves. Let's deny our emotions. They're fake anyway, and we'll only end up getting hurt. Finally, once and for all, we'll be able to listen to music for the sounds, not the meaning. C'mon? Who's with me!? It'll be great! We'll test it out on Neko Case's tour. Yeah... YEAH! Neko Case's tour! We'll go there, we'll listen, we'll stare. Then we'll go home and stare at the TV. Then we'll stare at the ceiling just before we doze off to sleep. Then we'll stare at work and in the car. We'll stare everywhere, because that way we'll ensure that our feelings will never be hurt again.

At the very least the thread title should read: "Wha' da hell? Neko Case gives minimal love to the west coast"

Tania, are you hating us NW'ers?? We still refer to ourselves as the West Coast up here :) We don't call you guys the "SW" Is this all because you Califorinians got "our" weather for the first few months of the year? :D
