i normally don't fall for stuff like this. A couple of months ago i really rated this record, now i see that it's just not that good. I mean they're definitely not bad, but m-e-h. The last time i rated something that i regretted was back in the 5th grade when i thought Ben Harper was a genius...

Good.

As a convenor in the Union of Hipsters, I can tell you the amnesty on Bloc Party doesn't finish until June 30th so all you Obnerians out there still have plenty time to see the error of your ways. All renunciations are required in written form by June 30th.

Remember comrades, stay officially Certified Cool by saying "No!" to Bloc Party.

I don't like being cool.

It's a pain in the ass and not very cool, anyway.

I'm cool with being not so cool.

Give the Bloc Party a 73/100

Should have asked. I would have told you this record was disposable some time ago.

Not a fan of what I've heard. But not because I'm hip or cool. Just not a fan.

I still say it's the best record of the year to date. Great pop record, and a great live band. It's their debut , and a very impressive one.

This won't win me any points but I'll take this over the colossal disappointment called Gimme Fiction. People are letting them get away with murder based on the strength of their first four records.

Yeah, 'Gimme Fiction' is my first Spoon album and I have to say I don't understand what the fuss is about.

I've only heard it a couple of times though, so perhaps it needs more bedding in but at this point I'm a little baffled by the all encompassing popularity.

I have their album and still haven't found the time to give a listen.

I've been listening to BP's album for almost 6 months now, and after the initial infatuation, and then the consequent avoidance, i've been listening to this album a lot again. I'll stick to what I first thought, this is a great debut on the strength of its songwriting and execution. I don't think i've heard anything better yet this year, although I'm still hoping to be pleasantly surprised. If you're a hater, feel free to continue being a hater, I'll still be listening.

Agree 100% on both points.

The Bloc Party album is by far the best record this year. The fact that it's their debut makes it even more impressive.

Listened to it yesterday after a month off and I still like it. Very self-assured but not arrogant (rare for a debut) and there are music touches below the surface that give it some real depth sonically.

Don't believe the anti-hype.

I've only listened to samples, but that did't exactly float my boat.

I was hearing a lot about them before and after Coachella. I didn't see their show. But I listened to their CD at a store recently. More exciting than the fucking Futureheads. But nothing that I feel like I must have as of now.

I need to give BP more listening time, but I do dig those tight, tight rhythms.
