good review and great pics. i just caught them in NYC at Webster Hall [what an amazing venue] last week, but my pics came out blurry [possibly due to moving too much or being too drunk]. nevertheless i had a great time, and they were superb live. i'll post a few when i get to work.

How did you get such good angles to shoot from? Was it not sold out, or were you just REALLY determined? (I suspect the latter). Also, what'd you shoot with? I used to photograph all my friends' bands in college for fun, btw. I used a trusty old 80's Minolta x370 and 1600 speed film, no flash of course.

Several questions--

unless i'm not particularly knowledgable of a band i go to see, you can expect to see me at the front of the stage every time. i let the bigger fans have the fun at those shows. this show sold out a week or two ago, but i usually arrive early enough to claim a close spot. if you want great pictures, this is the way to get them, provided you have nothing better do to in the time around the doors of the venue opening like i usually do. since 2002, i've used a minolta dimage f100, which i absolutely adore. it's starting to show some wear and tear from being lugged around in my pocket and knocked around at shows occasionally (and there was the time i snuck it into the field day festival in 2003 and had to mask it from the pouring rain the entire day). i just got a canon powershot g6 as a graduation present, but you can be damn sure i'm never taking that to one of these events.
