Looks like a nice hall. Admittedly, I'm not all that familiar with some of those artists. I have that Santana album on vinyl myself---good stuff.

I do wonder where you folks find such great deals. It seems that most the shops I can find good albums on vinyl know that they're good and charge $5-10---none of this $1 for Abbey Road on vinyl. I guess it depends where you live. The pickin's at my local thrift shops are not that good.

I was surprised that I found this stuff.. not because it is in high demand, but still, for 1 buck each?

It very much is a location thing, in my opinion- my last place of residence didnt see me finding a damn thing at thrift shops except overpriced scratched copies of the Doors and of course Herb Alpert

yeah, what the heck was up with Herb Alpert, anyhow?

I found a nice copy of 'Welcome to the Beautiful South' for 65 cents over the weekend. Pretty sweet.

I have a copy of Whipped Cream & Other Delights taken from my college's radio station, if you'd like to find out.

Who doesnt own a copy of this ? Have to love it.

I dont mind Alpert, and you can get some pretty good samples from the myriad of releases he appears on.. I dont know, its better than all the Styx vinyl I see

I thought the same thing. i know people who don't own turntables who have a copy of that. Too funny.

How was the weekend? You get out to see The F*cking Champs?

Sure did... opening band was from Oakland Cali, the Boy J'azz - they were a good time, unapologetic no frills rock. Adam, the singer, is a nice guy.. quite a wiseass.. (hence, Im hoping, the band name)

The F*cking Champs destroyed... my ears were ringing for two days, and I was hung over for 1 1/2 of them... nice set, small room, rather unresponsive crowd ..but the show was good

how was the dorkwave partay? It sounded interesting, but I found out about it too late.

If you hear of anything else going on worthwhile, let me know.. Im single for the next few days lol

I skipped Dorkwave. Time came around and I just wasn't feeling up to it. Since I'd have been rolling solo anyway, I made the decision to stay in. Plowed through some promo CDs I'd let stack up and generally chilled out. Friends BBQd on Sunday, which was nice.

Nothing good show-wise until next week w/ Modest Mouse and Raveonettes on consecutive nights. I might check out Blanche on Sat, but my main motivation would be to do a story on them, and I'm having trouble finding an outlet. I'll let you know if I change my mind.

Glad you had a good time @ The Lager House. Another good spot is The Old Miami. Roach-infested, but loads of character and a similar setup.
