not the cheap $100 Krups-type dealio's either. something good and solid. doesn't really need to make more than one shot at a time. doesn't have to make coffee in addition to the espresso either....

thanks in advance for your time and attention to this matter.

That's my boy. Espresso all the way.

An expensive espresso maker is the first material possesion I will purchase when I (theoretically) one day make my first substantial pay cheque.

In the meantime I'm using this at home, which works quite well.

Sorry I can't be more help to you... but I do expect a full report and picture when you finally by one. :)

get one of the stovetop ones. do not get the kind that require the little espresso packets.

If you go with getting a whole machine type one you should get one that's very heavy and made from metal/chrome, not the plastic kind.

It's also good if it's a little intimidating to guests.

e.g.

Heh heh. Acutally, I'm a Quebecer-Canadian, we're all about being intimidating to guests.

Not to hijack the thread but...

I had a really nice boss who after he got rid of his real espresso maker at his deli bought me one of those '$100 Krups-type dealios' for Christmas, he knew I grew fond of the machine we had at work. Total waste. I tried many a times & I just couldn't make good espresso with it, it couldn't froth for shit. And I know he spent good money on it. It's been in storage for 4 years. So now I have this running joke with my sister that I'm gonna buy the $1,500 at William Sonoma. I got a better chance of making the $100 work
