Please recommend 3 songs from the following that I can download (if you can link to streams, great) to get a good idea whether I should buy the (most recent) album:

Antony and the Johnsons
Andrew Bird
p:ano
Six Organs of Admittance

Thanks, friends.

Antony:
"For Today I Am a Boy" (my favourite song this year)
"My Lady Story"
"Hope There's Someone"

Six Organs of Admittance (tough call):
"Procession of Cherry Blossom Spirits" off 'School of the Flower'
maybe "This Hand" off 'Dark Noontide' (his masterwork)
and perhaps something like "Assyria" off 'Dust & Chimes'
* note: Ben Chasny's work should be experienced as albums, though

I'm seeing both these in an intimate church setting in Toronto on Saturday!!!

Antony- My Lady Story, You are my sister, Man is the Baby

Andrew Bird- Masterfade, Opposite Day, and The Naming of Things

Six Organs- Saint Cloud, Procession of Cherry Blossom and Thicker than a smokey (I'm assuming you mean from the new record, and I agree with Bonor's recs)

Sample at random from Antony & the Johnsons...its pretty consistently qual in my opinion. Fake Palindromes is the best song on the Andrew Bird album, however it isn't very representative of the overall sound of the album. I'm not a big fan of the album and would suggest getting something else, but definitely don't buy it based on Fake Palindromes cause you'll be setting yourself up for a disappointment.

np: Simply Saucer "Cyborgs Revisited"

For me the make-or-break song for the Six Organs album is the title track since it's so long. I don't like it at all so I think it really hurts the record. That's really unfortunate because some of the other songs (the ones listed above) are great. If you don't own any other Six Organs, get Dark Noontide first.

Antony and the Johnsons is good but it's not the sort of thing your going to listen to on your I-Pod when you nip out to the shops.

Definately a 'quiet-on-your-own-night-time' album. And some of the lyrics might freak out even the most understanding of heterosexuals.

I would try to help you out with p:ano, but I've only listened to it in my car and thus, don't know any of the songs by name, or by number really. Radcliffe should probably be able to help you out there.

It goes up to:
Go Platinum at 5000

then there's nothing till:
frostingspoon at 10000

Any suggestions for what to fit in between are welcome - some people will be past 5000 pretty soon.

P:ano Brigadoon - I suggest "Supermarket One", "Dark Hills", and "Clapping Hands" as a trio of songs that'll give you a good indication of what you'd be getting on the album. You might also want to download "He Will Come Back To Me" - which is a song sung by one of the girls in the band (and there's a few of those on this reckid).

Antony & the Johnsons - good suggestions already. I'd only warn that "Fistful Of Love" may be the best song on the disc but it's not quite representative of the rest of the album.
