It would be a record, beating out the Harrisons by one family member.

Someone somewhere should get together and cut a deal wherein a President may not be named Bush or Clinton before the year 2525, if man is still alive.

I encourage Jeb Bush to run in 2008. Clinton would effortlessly crush him.

Even if I'd never lost a teaching position directly to this chump's inability to run one state, I still would never be able to deal with him fucking up 50 states and eventually the universe.

Ever read or had been taught about the New Testament?

It makes perfect sense that the end of the world will happen on a Republican watch. I usually don’t give into scare tactics but it has been told, I thought the big three were going to be Kennedy.

It can now only be a matter of time before the Bush clan introduce primogeniture as the sole basis of presidential candidate choice, with God joining the USA as a state with an electoral college total of 1,000,000 votes.

Jeb's a lot different than W., but enough already.

Next time, let's vote for some drytoast public servant type who isn't going to upend the damn government and then won't coast on giant shitass grins and hand gestures.

I'm sick to my teeth of Bubbas and Dubya's. I know that George Mitchell types aren't gonna get the average joe vote, but there's gotta be a few Atticus Finches out there who can run.

I would really like to think that the American public would reject this kind of obvious semi-monarchism, with only two families in the ascendancy, and that would be one of the main points of any campaign against him. That said, I think he'd walk away with the primary, and probably take almost anyone in the general.

When did intelligence and/or competency get thrown out the window as make-or-break qualifications for President??!!

I agree with you up to this point, Loogar. I think just the simple human nature of the electorate to not want yet another Bush to be President could make him vulnerable to a strong Democrat. Where that strong Democrat is, though, I don't know.

Hell, U.S. Grant, the most popular American of the 19th century at home and abroad, is still taking a beating in the Opiniondome.

Most Republican presidents since McKinley at the turn of century have been regarded as buffoons. Well, all except Nixon, who was bottled evil.

Zachary Taylor was elected in 1848 despite never taking the time to vote at any time in his military career.

They can't all be Washingtons and Lincolns. There will always be more Fillmores, Clevelands and Buchanans.

The problem is, we still gawk at the Kennedys, cry when Diana Spencer eats dash and give a shit which equine Prince Charles decides to marry.

We like dumb shit like that. Christ, look at the Earnhardts, Pettys, Ripkens, Kate Hudsons, Michael Douglas...

If you don't have anything at least marginally intelligent to say, please do us a favor by writing it down, folding it and placing it in your pocket.

As for panties, I don't remember sobbing at the election results in November, dipshit.

I do as well. The problem right now is that the Dem bench is SO weak, and the deck SO stacked against anyone semi hawkish to get through the primary, I think Dems are fucked.

I hate to think too pessimistically, but basically the country needs someone with the cunning of Johnson to save it. McCain, while I love him, and would vote for him over any current Democrat looking at the race, may not have the savvy to get through a primary dominated by "bomb 'em all" hawks and religious zealots, just as a guy like Lieberman (charisma be damned) couldn't get through the Dem primary.

The whole process is maddening, especially to people who are neither knee-jerk libs or conservatives.

I'm not sure Jeb would defeat Hillary handily.

Hillary won't go down easy (!) but she's not the right candidate. Problem is, she's got a bunch of money and fundraising ability that's gonna be hard to stop.

If the Dems were smart they should find a less divisive candidate with some charisma and downhome appeal, since Hillary is devoid of these characteristics. That candidate just might be able to start a shift on the horizon.

Take some GOP talking points and throw them in the ring and use them effectively for your own cause. Contrary to the beliefs of some, a more liberal candidate will only get shelled.
