I found their lead guy Boooooooo-stav to be deplorable. They are 3/4 of the way to being a great band, but are instead some relic of a bygone era of rock. I think his bandmates can barely stomach him too. My boss and coworkers thought it was an awesome show. I was fired last night for my dissention, but my job reinstated upon my arrival this morning.

Whoa, dude. What, did he take a shit on your chest? Piss on your shoes? What offended you?

I kind of agree with your second comment. For that brand of rock-roll, those kids do it pretty well. They played maybe eight songs here in MPLS. The crowd was thin and the noise wasn't loud, but the Bell's on tap made for a pretty good night.

I should curb the hyperbole and merely say that his performance really detracted from my appreciation of the show. His presence was fey and all hair. Cut out the tambourine, and wear looser jeans, and this show was markedly better.

They're playing here tonight but I don't really feel like going. I'm holding out for John Vanderslice on sunday, Jens Lekman on monday and Immortal Technique on tuesday.

I dunno, I thought they were great. I mean, of course they're throwbacks, but they do it with total conviction. And they rock.

Also I thought their extended jams felt nicely Krautrock-ish.

i'm not seeing them tonight (though mlle's there) but i saw the last show and it was half good/half unbearable 15 minute flute-jam.

i saw them at siren fest this summer and i didn't have too much of a problem with the lead guy. he definitely was my least favorite member of the band and seemed to be acting too much and not just being himself. felt like he was showing off.

but then again, he must have been excited as hell to play to such a huge crowd.

i thought they were great though. very well executed, good "jamming."

i think you feel threatened. tell me, did you nearly pass out when he took out his flute?

anyway, i very much dug them when i saw them earlier this summer, thought the band was phenomenal, and that the songs came out very well live, something i wasn't sure if they could do going in to the show, tight clothing and all.
