Thank god... I can't stomach another two hours of Dooling, Hunter and the Jonses'. Scrubs, the lot of them!

With apologies to FT, I have at best a mild interest in this Championship series.

Yes the two best teams are playing in it and they are teams that actually play defense but come on, give me somthing to pique my interest.

While I think Tim Duncan has, pound for pound, one of the best games in the league, he is also the most boring superstar ever.

While I expect good fundamental basketball I don't think this series will interest the casual fan.

I agree. This way, if I'm wrong, I'm happy. Conversely, if I'm sad, at least I'm right. Honestly, I think it will be one helluva series. I will be shocked if it doesn't go seven, and almost as shocked if there aren't at least a couple of OT games.

Hey, Ben...do you not find the reckless acrobatics of Ginobili to be at least MILDLY exciting???

Same here. People forget how easily the Pistons dismantled last year's Lakers squad. It went 4-2, right? This will be a series worth watching. At least games 4-7.

HAHA! Nah man I think these teams are VERY evenly matched and it should be a great display of hoops but I just think from the NBA's perspective it lacks a certain flash and stars.

I'd be willing to bet that the passing fan doesn't know a single player on the Spurs after Duncan and Ginobli and nobody on the Pistons after Rip Hamilton or Ben Wallace.

Ginobli is a freak and I'm fairly sure he goes to local strips clubs under the alias Johnny Utah.

That being said, I say the Spurs take it in six simply because they have had the rest and the Pistons/Heat series was pretty physical.

This is the single greatest line ever posted on Obner. Gotta love Johnny Utah! After all, Ron Mexico needs a running buddy.

i'm way stoked about this matchup and am predicting detroit in 6, combined point differential maybe +5. it should be good. plus, san antonio may have to run phoenix-style if they REALLY want to create an advantage, which should be fun.

That really played out according to script.

First quarter: Spurs are rusty, Pistons are still sharp after Game 7.
2nd-3rd quarter: Both teams play their normal, all defense style.
4th quarter: Detroit gets all tired, Spurs realize they can play Phoenix style, Spurs are freah after a week off, game over.

As for Game 2....who knows?

Go Spurs!

San Antonio are a better defensive team than the 'best defensive team'.

When will Rasheed remember how good he used to be? Sometimes being unselfish is selfish. The Pistons are 8-0 these playoffs when he's scored more than 20 points. Isn't that saying something?

And they're a WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better offensive team. I'm actually starting to think they just might win this thing, after all!

Stat of the night: Manu Ginobili scores 27 points on 8 shot attempts.

I challenge Kobe or McGrady to do that, like, ever.

The fact that I hardly noticed Tim Duncan last night yet the Spurs won by 20 is also pretty amazing.

Detroit's lack of a bench and the fact that their defense isn't a notable advantage in this series is killing them so far.

Game 3 will be much, much closer though.
