Meaningless really, but fun side note I guess.

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- Sen. John F. Kerry's grade average at Yale University was virtually identical to President Bush's record there, despite repeated portrayals of Kerry as the more intellectual candidate during the 2004 presidential campaign.

Kerry had a cumulative average of 76 and got four Ds his freshman year -- in geology, two history courses and political science, The Boston Globe reported Tuesday.

His grades improved with time, and he averaged an 81 his senior year and earned an 89 -- his highest grade -- in political science as a senior.

"I always told my dad that D stood for distinction," Kerry said in a written response to reporters' questions. He said he has previously acknowledged focusing more on learning to fly than studying.

Under Yale's grading system in effect at the time, grades between 90 and 100 equaled an A, 80-89 a B, 70-79 a C, 60 to 69 a D, and anything below that was a failing grade.

In 1999, The New Yorker magazine published a transcript showing Bush had a cumulative grade average of 77 his first three years at Yale, and a similar average under a non-numerical rating system his senior year.

Bush's highest grade at Yale was an 88 in anthropology, history and philosophy. He received one D in his four years, a 69 in astronomy, and improved his grades after his freshman year, the transcript showed.

Kerry, a Democrat, previously declined to release the transcript, which was included in his Navy records. He gave the Navy permission to release the documents last month, the Globe reported.

Kerry graduated from Yale in 1966, Bush in 1968

Yes, interesting, but it doesn't change the fact that Bush can't form a coherent sentence or use words with more than two syllables.

This is my problem with Dubya. Willfull ignorance. "I've made up my mind, don't confuse me with the facts" etc..

That said, I hope you all know that calling Bush stupid, a nazi or whatever, just galvanizes his supporters.

I like to think they already know of his lack of intelligence, since it's pretty hard to miss. Thus, my telling them has little effect... it's not as though you're going to get an "oh, shit, really? Wait, he's dumb? Aw dammit."

I get along better with those types than liberals.

the new quote on my wall:
"We're not going to blow it this time. Just shut up, gays, women and environmentalists. Just shut up. You'll get everything you want after the election. But just, for the meantime, shut up so that we can win"

It is from this little desk calendar I have, so I'm thinking yes. Either way, it perfectly sums up Dem politics.

Doesn't surprise me because I thought Kerry was a complete 'tard. Seriously didn't the Democrates want to win? What was with that?

You half suspect the logic was "he was in the military the simple folk will vote for him".

Give me a fucking break. If Bush is so damn stupid, then it shows just how bright the fucking Democrats are for running Gore and Kerry.

I'm no Bush supporter, but I'll also say that a great deal of the anti-Bush vitriol is because he's not spectacular leader nor politician, yet the Democrants still can't defeat him. Don't give me any crybaby bullshit about Florida or Ohio, either.

If the Democrats had run even a half-ass candidate in either election, Bush would be watching "Crook & Chase" reruns in Crawford. Don't blame the much maligned Christians and war mongers, blame yourselves for saddling up behind pandering shit stains like Gore and Kerry...and Reid and Pelosi.

Then again, this is the same party who ran Adlai Stevenson in 1952, and after he was swamped by Eisenhower-Nixon they decided to drag his corpse out for an even bigger landslide in 1956.

Good points, though my anti-Bush vitriol stems from the belief that he's a lying sack of shit.

Then run Jimmy Carter again. He's still eligible, after all.

You know, I really have to stand up here. Just because the guy isn't a good public speaker doesn't mean he's a moron. Put me in public, in front of a crowd, and ask me to speak and I stumble and stammer and make a fool of myself just like Bush does. Does that make me a moron? No. It just means I'm a bad public speaker. It bears no reflection on what does or does not go on inside my head, nor does it Bush's. I'd bet that, in writing, Bush is able to put forward his statements with clarity and ease, which is how I'm most comfortable communicating.

Let's drop the BS, people. The guy's not stupid, unfortunately for you who get off on labeling people as such. You don't like him, that is all. Leave it at at that.

No, Mot, he's pretty stupid. Yes, it gets overdone, sure. By a lot sometimes, but the fact is, the guy's not real sharp. It isn't nervousness that accounts for it, as maybe in your case. You know that Disassemble doesn't mean to lie, right? Because Bush doesn't. There are 365 day calendars with his goofs for each day of the year, all taken from verifiable public speeches. And he knows how to get by, that's for damn sure. He's "clever," if not smart.

It's not nerves. I'm not a bush hater, either. He's not a moron, and he's not borderline-retarded, he's just sorta average. That'd be A-OK if he were working at Ace Hardware.

I see your point, but at the same time, part of being in the spotlight is maintaining composure and being able to think on the fly if a "hard question" gets asked. Unless it's scripted, Bush can't speak on his own, and I don't think it has anything to do with his nerves. A lot of people love his "down home" plainspeak, but that's the sort of chatter I'd expect from, say, a young, inexperienced up-and-coming actor, or a smalltown mayor. This is the President, for God's sake.

Clearly, the man isn't completely stupid, because he's surrounded himself with some of the most savvy people in politics.
