Hey gang,

Just been thinking about this today and would like to get the ball rolling on this sooner than later. Yahoo will start registration on sometime this month, so I thought we could see whose interested and get all the rule/scoring debates out of the way.

- One league this year. One.
- Prize: Bragging rights at the very least. Current preference is the winner's choice between a mix or new CD.
- League size: An even number (edit) less than or equal to 20. Current interest count is at 20. Invites sent.
- Postseason: Championship will be week 16. Playoff field will be 8.
- Commentaries: Hopefully every week.
- Draft: tentatively Wednesday September 7, 9pm EDT.
- Scoring system: Similar to last year (Passing points TD/yards: 4/.033, Rush-&-rec TD/yards 6/.1. This puts point totals for QBs and RBs pretty even).
- Roster (based on 20 teams):
1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 WR/TE
1 K
1 D (Team)
5 Bench

Interested? Other ideas? Talk to me...

I'm definitely interested but didn't play last year. However you guys like to set it up is fine with me. I think CDs was the prize for winning last year, is that a possibility again this year?

Sure. CD. Mix. Winner's choice of either (my pref). Whatever.

That's 90 starting receiver/tight ends if we get 30. Add bye weeks, and Wayne Chrebet will end up going in the fourth round. Splitting the league into divisions may make sense, or maybe players could get drafted twice (can Yahoo even handle this?).

Also, please please please end the season by week 14. I lost my money league last year because Philly sat Westbrook at the last minute.

But hell yeah, I'm in.

And I've always been a strong proponent of the mix versus the purchased CD.

Football quote of the day:

Panthers DT Kris Jenkins on Warren Sapp Wrote:

He's ugly, he stinks, his mouth stinks, his breath stinks, and basically his soul stinks, too."

We won't have 30. I'm capping it at 28, and my wording wasn't very clear. With 28 teams, that's 84 starting WR/TEs, which is the exact same number of starting WR/TEs in the league on a bye week.

Championship week will be week 16. Assuming 16+ teams, that means 8-team playoff, which means a 13-week regular season.

I know you like the mixes, Billz. I prefer the CD myself for my own reasons. Winner's choice feels like the best compromise.

Of course I'm in.... gotta defend my (half) championship!!!

And with as poorly as my fantasy baseball team is doing right now, I need a chance to redeem myself.

Works for me. The only real pushback I have is running the season into week 16. Starters will be riding the bench, and a solid fantasy season can get blown to pieces by almost-random chance.

Did this happen with any non-Eagles last year? I agree it sucks, but the risk of this is much less than with a week-17 championship. Honestly, I'm not sure if yahoo supports a championship game any earlier than 16. Will look into that when their registration starts.

Spade: it is never too early. ;)

*Number will be determined total NFL starters at that position on a bye week divided by league size, rounded down. 1/2/2/1 at 28 teams, 2/4/4/2 at 14 teams.

in. I think having the starting rosters depend on the league size is an excellent idea, and I like the numbers you picked.

the only thing that could be tricky is using team Ds for a large league. *factoring in bye weeks*, there just might not be enough team Ds to go around, especially if some teams carry more than one. at some point (18 teams or larger?) it probably makes more sense to use D players.

and thanks for being on the ball.

*edit

You can make the same argument for place kickers without any easy resolution. Everyone will at least have one, and most owners (self included) would be willing to take the hit on the D/PK's bye week than use a bench spot for a backup.

I've been in leagues where you can use a player's season-to-date average for bye-week coverage. This is usually in keeper leagues where you don't want to cut someone merely to make room for a bye-week pick-up. I don't think Yahoo can handle this, though.

This will be even more fun this season, since we'll all be in the same league. Rock on, Sketch!
