This is sort of inspired by Aurals thread about Teenage Fanclub but it reminded me of that most fabulous of all musical instruments - the Harmonium.

I love harmonium. If the Government really cared about you, me or the children there would be a civil servant employed on ever street corner playing 'The Blue Bells of Scotland' or 'My Bonny Laddie Has My Heart'. There would be! But they don't care and all we get is the sound spitting, flinty swear words and car horns...

...anyway I want as many examples of harmonium in popular music as possible. And don't say Ivor Cutler cos I know that myself.

Hopefully this message will not be in vain. Just give me one, somebody, just one.

Allen Ginsberg played the harmonium.

Check out his CD, "New York Blues: Rags Ballads and Harmonium Songs".

He was one krazy kat.

Interestingly enough, the band that opened for the Fannies in Glasgow include the harmonium as one of their main instruments. Check out Lucky Luke.

I nearly got sucked into that Prog site and wouldn't have come up for air for hours.

jeff buckely played one on the beginning of "lover, you should've come over" and it's gorgeous.

There's also one on "caress" by the brian jonestown massacre (i think) and it too is gorgeous. makes me want to go out and get one and just stare at it

A composer on the edges of Minimalism named Daniel Lentz wrote a couple of pieces for rubbed and struck (with soft mallets) wine glasses. The score required the players to periodically drink from the glasses so that the music would slowly become a.) higher-pitched and b.) sloppier.
