The Super Regionals started today and the College World Series begins next week in Omaha.
Nebraska beat Miami today in Lincoln 3-1 and needs one more win to reach Rosenblatt.
Tennessee beat Georgia Tech and Florida is crushing Florida State right now.
Cal State Fullerton and Arizona State still play tonight.

Tomorrow, USC and Oregon State, Rice and Tulane, Texas and Mississippi and Baylor and Clemson begin their series.

I don't think I have been to a bigger party/sports event than the 2001 CWS when the Tulane Alumni Association had a Zydeko band play at their little cocktail party.

I love baseball, but the NCAAs and their damn metal bats get on my nerves about midway through the game.

P.S. The above reads pretty dickish. I'm going to watch some of these games, fo' real, cause it's still baseball.

I can understand, alot of Baseball purist don't like the aluminum bats. Colleges supposedly only use the aluminum bats due to the extremely high costs of supplying teams with wooden bats.
I only like the college game due to the fact the pace of the game is more fast pace and that the CWS is probably the only non-football related sporting event that is worthwhile and held in Nebraska.

Unless Wichita State's playing, I don't watch.

Also, is there some sort of rule for NCAA baseball teams that mandates you wear a uniform so putrid that the viewer yearns for a black and white television?

Nebraska is crushing Miami right now 5-0, it looks like the Huskers will be the first team to reach Omaha.
I still respect Wichita State, since Nebraska finally beat them in Wichita for the first time in a while this year, but I stopped being a fan after one of their star pitchers hit an Evansville player in the head. He was drafted pretty high and both he and the Wichita State coach were rather unapologetic about what appeared to be an intentional beaming.

The only place I could find this story was on some baseball bb. Here's Tartan's take on the incident:

"An example of a pitcher throwing at a batter in the on deck circle actually happened last year in a collegegame between Wichita state and Evansville. Wichita st. pither Ben Christensen threw a 91 MPH warmup
pitch at Anthony Molina which struck him above the left eye breaking his cheekbone in three places and causing two more fractures above his eye. Christensen's excuse?
He was protecting his turf claiming there is an "unwritten rule" in baseball that batters should not be near the plate when a pitcher is warming up."

I'm no hooligan, but that's pretty funny. Wrong, but funny.

I tell a lie. I'm now watching NU beat up on Miami. Who doesn't like to see Miami get waxed?

I can't watch. It's too much of a reminder of how LSU has fallen in baseball.

Nebraska won 6-3 to punch their ticket first, and Tennessee is about to get the second bid, as they lead Georgia Tech 10-1.

I can't believe Tech is stining up the joint like that, especially after the ACC Tourney and the way they BEAT THE BRAKES OFF of FSU.

I used to live down the street from the stadium at UGA, and many a spring afternoon you could find me and Bloor sipping from a pint of whiskey spitting sunflower seeds. Just thinking about this makes me happy.

I understand the anti-aluminum bat arguement, but it's a lot easier to tolerate than the BCS & college footballs lack of a real playoff system. I think the thing that kills NCAA baseball is it doesn't have a monopoly on developing talent for the pros. I also think it's not the sole reason but a factor in the NBA trying to pull an age limit is to protect college b-ball since Europe & high school is biting into it's turf.

I have no need for a "real playoff system" in football. Give me the old bowl system--flaws and all--and college football is probably my favorite sport to watch on television.

I actually like it as is. So much controversay, and drama.

You can't find a bigger choker than GT when it comes to baseball. They seemingly do that all the time. I, however, am enjoying my Bears finally getting into the CWS!

Congrats to OSU, I'm glad you are on the other side of the bracket from Nebraska.

So far it is:
Bracket 1
Florida
Tennessee
Arizona State
Nebraska
Bracket 2
OSU
Tulane
Baylor
Texas/Mississippi? Texas is winning in the 5th by a run

I think the beavers will have troubles with Tulane in the first round, if I have my parings right. They should win 1 in Omaha, but I don't see them making the final four teams.
If Nebraska wins the first game versus a tough, but less difficult opponent than Miami was or Fullerton would have been, they might go through to 3 game championship unscathed.

If Texas loses tonight, all eight teams in this year didn't make it last year.
