Early, and continuing, obsession with me. Most of their stuff still hasn't gotten old to me.

I love a lot of Floyd. Don't look for this to be anything particularly amazing, though. Nice that Waters is speaking to Gilmour again, but I doubt his prickishness has subsided much.

I don't know that they'll have time. It's either that, or "Echoes" or "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and nothing else.

I suspect:

Money
Comfortably Numb
Wish You Were Here
Astronomy Domine
Time or Brain Damage/Eclipse

Of course, if they get wind of this, they'll probably just play "Dogs" and nothing else, just to be pricks.

No, no, no. My guess is that their set will consist strictly of songs from Dark Side, WYWH, The Wall.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to hear other stuff, I just don't think it will happen.

This is correct. Astronomy Domine? They haven't played that song since 1972!

hahahahahaha; That would be great but will never happen. I'm pretty stoked to see this (I've already heard rumors of a full-on tour in the fall).

I never considered the Waters-less incarnation to be Pink Floyd. They should not have been allowed to use the name. Discuss.

It's old news but damn it's a shame about Syd. If they could get him up there in a meaningful, functional way I think I'd cry.

Again, it'll never happen.

They'll probably trot a 90 year-old Syd out in a wheel chair when Floyd appear at some far-distant King Harry's Ball function or other.

Personally, I don't get and have never gotten the whole Syd Barrett thing.

His lyrics were childish and whimsical but also clever and revealing. His sense of melodic narrative was quite advanced, plus he was the template for many other artists like Robyn Hitchcock and The Jazz Butcher.

Also his mythology is a way for some people to sniff & snob about later Floyd while staying Floyd fans on a certain level.

Yeah, I've owned for years, but I dont really hear it. Some of the early singles are decent but, on the real, are not even in the same ballpark as the Beatles, Stones or Dylan.....

I mean, I respect that people like Syd or the idea of Syd and whathaveyou but I think that Waters is the genius in that band.

Waters was pretty good lyrically on Dark Side and on Animals, and had some interesting musical ideas too...but I like what they were doing when they were all writing the songs. Meddle and Obscured by Clouds and even the songs on Atom Heart Mother are way more interesting to me than the Wall or Wish You Were Here (let alone the Final Cut), which I just find flat out boring ever since I graduated from high school and stopped being depressed and introspective

Yeah, I've never gotten the snobs who feel Pink Floyd ended the day Syd was sacked. I know Bowie has said this.

Off the top of my head I can't think of another band that had success with 3 different people leading the band at one point or another. Yes, I know that they weren't really creative under Gilmour, but still.

I'm actually pretty excited to hear this news, however, I don't think it will last beyond this G8 show. Roger may be a prick, but I still love him.

I'd love a tour. I saw them in '94 but without Waters it's just not the same. I personally think The Wall may be the best album in the history of rock and I'm not exaggerating.
