Both are from 1991. Both have had a lasting impact on music. Which of these "classic" albums has more of an impact on you?

I could have, of course, included Nevermind, but it doesn't seem to quite fit in.

If I had been asked this question a year ago, it probably would have been too close to call. Recently, however, my love of Screamadelica has gone up, while I've started to like Loveless a little less than I used to.

I hadnt listened to Screamadelica in almost a year now, but I pulled it out today and I've been listening to it non-stop; what an amazing album it is. "Come Together" and "Loaded" back to back is one of the best 20 minute sections on any album ever recorded, in my opinion, but every single track is completely mindblowing.

While we're at it, how do these albums compare to other "classics" of their time and genre? In particular, Blue Lines and The Stone Roses?

Well I much prefer 'Screamadelica' over 'Loveless' but I think the latter has had more 'impact' on music in general over the last 15 years or so.

Agreed. Despite that, I voted Screamadelica because I've listened to it twice lately and I've decided that I really just dont get Loveless anymore.

Loveless by a landslide.
Although Primal Scream was one of the best fucking LIVE acts I've ever seen...

Well for the poll (which I just added a few minutes ago), vote for the one that you prefer, not the one that has had more of an impact on other groups since 1991. I'd have to agree on Loveless having more of an impact overall, but that still doesn't mean that I like it more than Screamadelica.

In that case, I voted correctly. I doubt I could make it through 3 or 4 tracks of Loveless.

These are 2 of the most overrated albums EVER. I have a hard time listening to either, cos there's just not that much there there.

Of the two, I actually think I like Loveless better, if for nothing else that Screamadelica doesn't quite rock hard enough, and Loveless is a great headphone album for airplanes.

I don't have either of them but I've heard Loveless before and didn't like it at all so I voted for Primal Scream.

Just for a Day is the best shoegaze album ever.

Loveless is on another plane altogether. Many claim to imitate/be influenced by/whatever, but few actually capture the magic that it is.

Loveless is my all time favorite album...

since the day i heard it, and still today. I still love it. I listen to it regularly.

I also LOVE Primal Scream, Screamadelica is a great album but i still don't think it comes close to Loveless

Until Blotter there was more shit-talking about "Loveless" than I ever thought I'd hear. I can't weigh in because I've never heard (of) "Screamadelica" - I soon will - but "Loveless" is the best album I've ever heard, and I give no credence to the insane suggestion that there's not much to it or it's overrated. It secretes gorgeousness.

not shit talking on my part, but i will say that i've never been blown away by either of these albums, and never understood what people found so brilliant about them. they're decent records, but nothing overly impressive.

I voted Loveless because I've always enjoyed it, from the first time I heard it to now. It hasn't gotten old or dated to me and When You Sleep is one of my all time favourite songs.

Screamadelica is probably due for a re-listen soon, but it has never grabbed me. I frankly could never understand what the big deal was with this album, or band for that matter.

Screamadelica isn't even Primal Scream's best album, and though I love the scream, my vote still goes to MBV

What is your favorite P.S record?

I'm torn between Vanishing Point and XTRMNTR.

I think i'm going with Vanishing Point.

Exactly me. Vanishing Point works slightly better as a whole album then XTRMNTR.

I honestly have no idea how you can even put Screamadelica up to Loveless.

There is nothing overrrated about this record.

About a year ago I was just looking for some random shit and I came across a website regarding lyrics for songs. I put in Loveless just becasue I was never able to decifer the lyrics. After reading the them it made me love the album even more.

The lyrics for Loveless is as beautiful as the music itself.

The vocals on Loveless are great because you can't understand them all. The just sort fade in and out like whispers, perfectly fitting the dream like music.
