Advice about blogs

Hi

I'm looking to get a blog/website up and running, a place where i can host photos and mp3's and rant occasionally. i've been told that most of the big free blog hosts don't offer enough space to do this, any suggestions of a (hopefully free) place where i can set this up?

i thnk most blogs only host songs for a week or so for that reason (as well as copywrite reasons)

You can also host your pics on flickr and link to them offsite.

i've heard good things about flickr, but i still don't know where i could store mp3's.... i don't think that my mp3's will ever run into copyright issues, as they'll be proprietary music.
any of the several of you who run blogs have anything to say?
(i've seen some of you advertise yourself before)

You can post images on your Blogspot blog using Picassa.

i'm not sure if they offer it anymore.

host the pictures at flickr and host the mp3s through ysi. i know a few blogs doing that lately.

Or you could just join a forum-based website and post stuff no-one cares about in hopes that they won't respond...that's kind of like a blog...

You should avoid starting a blog, because they have a dumb name and exist mostly to capture whatever sloshes over whenever brimming egos are jostled by new technologies. Did you publish a newsletter to hand out to your friends before the Internet existed? They probably would have made fun of you, right?

i use flickr to host my pictures (or, if i don't feel like wasting the upload bandwidth, photobucket) and i just found ultrashare.net to host mp3s or whatever else it is i might want to share.

i think it would be more accurate to say that i just want to create a website where friends can easily get things from me that they've been asking for, although some of them actually are interested in listening to me rant about music and politics. i have more time to read about these things than they do, they want the summarized version.
besides the small amount of ridicule, people have absolutely pointed me in the right direction to do these things. thanks all.
