Over the years and miles I have noted that many songs and bits of songs remind me of other songs.

Here's a few off the top o' the head:

The Jam "Start" and The Beatles "Taxman"
The Jam "Town Called Malice" and The Supremes "Can't Hurry Love"
Ray Parker Jr. "Ghostbusters" and Huey Lewis "I Want A New Drug"
XTC "King for a Day" and Tears for Fears "Everybody Wants To Rule The World"
Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and Boston "More Than A Feeling"
Wilco and Billy Bragg "Hoodoo Voodoo" and The Beatles "Lady Madonna"

What do you got?

A more recent example:

My Morning Jacket - "One Big Holiday" and Ted Leo - "Me and Mia"

I'm pretty sure Bob pointed this out a while ago.

I'm pretty sure Ray Parker Jr. was sued by Huey Lewis for ripping of the Ghostbusters riff.

I think you're thinking of "Little Dawn" instead of "Me and Mia", although it's really only the intro to "One Big Holiday" that sounds similar rather than the whole song.

Nirvana's 'Mr Moustache' sounds a lot like Velvet Undergrounds ''European Son'.

The producers of Ghostbusters approached Huey to use his song in the film, but he turned them down, which led them to ask Ray to write a song similar to "I Want A New Drug" as the theme. Huey sued Ray, and they settled out of court.

They returned to court in 2001 when Ray sued Huey for breaching a confidentiality agreement forming part of their original out of court settlement which prohibited either side from speaking about it publicly. Huey spilled the beans in a VH1 Behind The Music special that Ray had paid a settlement as part of the original agreement.

The Smiths "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore" and Bob Mould "Brasilia Crossed With Trenton" are both = Gordon Lightfoot "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"

Wilco's Pot Kettle Black/Gingersol's Great Day For War/The Cure's In Between Days----there's definitely a chord progression that is very similar in these three songs.

One of Front Line Assembly's songs has the same chord progression as "Maneater", I think. Or one of them Flashdance songs.
