There are about 11 albums there that have a shot at my year end list.

Yeh... but November and December always suck. Anyone know of anything coming out in the next six weeks that's worth it?

Yes, but, Billz, truthfully, is there ANY list you will be satisfied with other than your own?

Uncut is a British magazine. Chutes was released in UK until this year.

I'm not crazy about the list but I'm guessing that Magnet et al will come up with even worse lists this year.

Sure. My visceral reaction was at the sheer timidness of the list. Every pick was "safe" and the entire list is dull, dull, dull.

I'm not that far out there, yet only one or two of the albums I consider to be the best of the year are even on here.

Brian Wilson, Loretta Lynne, and Wilco as the top three make this no better than Spin, Rolling Stone, or Tiger Beat.

Its UNCUT, Billze, a magazine that pics a new act to canonize each month, and be consistently counted on to shit itself over whatever alt.country is hot at the moment...

I have no problems with this list, and am intrigued by some of the stuff I haven't heard.

Somedays I forget how big a bunch of haters most of us here are...thanks to everyone for reminding me.

All of the "8 or 10 of these will be on my list" posts should have a ps of "but I've got some WAAAAY hipper choices, too, cuz ME SO INDIE!"

You're such an anti-indie-ite. :domokun:

edit: Being anti-indie is the new indie.

I like all of those alot, and if I had listened to enough albums this year to make a list, most of them would be on there.

These will most certainly be in my top 20. There are at least 10 others that I haven't heard yet that I would expect would have a good chance as well.

Seven (eight at most) will make my Top Twenty.

There's virtually nothing on that list that you could scare your parents with and the Top 20 is duller than brickwork. Only two of my picks reside there.

"a ghost is born" has yet to grow on me.
i like all the songs in live form, but the album bores me. seems thin or something.
