I really shouldn't be in a good mood. I mean it's midnight and 75 degrees with 94% humidity. But I am; thanks to a deep deep delve into my record collection....

So I pulled out Electronic's second album about an hour ago - probably for the first time in 8 or 9 years. It was absolutely fantastic. Which is quite weird because at the time the record was considered a complete embarrassment. It was literally 10 years behind the premise and it was duly slaughtered.

But this is the weird bit, because it was so unfashionably out of date then, it's aged prematurely and subsequently has become fantastically retro a mere 10 years later. It literally sounds like a compilation of all the best bits of dance music between '85 to '88 when T-Coy, Mantronix, Phuture and Farley, Farley, Farley were brewing up a storm down the local disco (as they still were still called at that stage).

Take track three 'Dark Angel' for example. I mean "woah!!!". When was the last time you heard a plinky plonky Italian acid house record? It's amazing! It's kinda like you had this friend years ago and then he got an unfashionable hair cut or something and you stopped hanging out and then you met again decades later and your best friends again and you just think "How could I be so shallow but I just so glad I found you again!" Well something like that anyway. Not exactly but along those lines.

Or track Five 'Until The End Of Time' - what a fucking corker! A corker if you don't know is very good indeed, I don't know if you say that in America. I've certainly never heard it on Cagney and Lacey which is my gauge to what's a collequiallism or not. Anyway, it's just amazing! Truly wonderous. A marvel of pumping electro fuck-up-ya-brains. That fat, metronomic beat just whiskes me away to a time when I was slim and going out at the weekend and ending up in late night taxi cabs to unknown areas of the city. I mean wholly fucking shit! How good is that?

I could go on and on. 'Visit Me' is a great Kraftwerk homage but Karl Bartos is playing on it so is it a homage? Hmmm one to ponder. 'Second Nature' is a fantastic single kinda like Candi Staton was actually a white guy from Manchester who can't sing or dance but is still out of this world brilliant. The feedback guitar solo on 'Forbidden City' is honest to goodness the best thing Johnny Marr has done since 1987. Actually make that 1887 and he wasn't even alive back then. Like I said I could go on and on but I'll leave you with the wise council of Bernie Sumner.

"This love was born instead of hate, celebrate our love, CELEBRATE!!! let me feel the right vibration, celebrate our love, CELEBRATE!!!"

Stoned to the bone classic, as they used to say for some reason, probably because, you know, they'd done loads of drugs.

Is that the one with "Get The Message" on it? I really dug that single, couldn't stomach an entire album though.

Wow, you and me make two Electronic fans. It's like an army, but without the arms.

No, that's the first album, I believe.

Me three! I really thought their second album was surprisingly not bad. I need to go revisit it (along with about 1K other albums).

Count me in as an Electronic fan. If I recall correctly, this was sent to me as a promo by some boy I used to flirt with who worked at MTV Corporate in NYC. Ahhhh...the memories.

I don't think I even knew there WAS a 2nd Electronic album. I always liked the singles from the first one.

Well, then you should probably know that there's three.
