Pape Tige, and other MKE peoples -- where in the city is Stella available? I see the advertisements for the brand every time I take in a show at the Downer or Oriental, but I cannot find a liquor store or bar in town, so far, that carries Stella. Any ideas?

Mmmmmmmmmm Stella!

After returning from a trip to Europe 5 years ago I visited my local package store and asked for Stella.
"No but we can order it" said Arnie (a fine American)
It's now a regularly available selection.
I'm proud to state that I singlehandedly introduced Stella to my community.

Is it really that hard to find?...it was one of the first beers I drank on a regular basis.

i first had stella in london back in '99. i came back to the states, and couldn't find it anywhere. slowly, it started turning up...i remember finding it on tap in nyc and sf. now it's everywhere i look. i'm surprised it's hard to find in places.

Don't gloat too much.

Colorado is the only place I have been able to find it, at the cinema-concert hall on Colfax, in Denver. I cannot remember the name... I saw a ska show there, and Fahrenheit 9/11. Actually, too, the ska show was better. Mustard Plug and chicks making out on stage will top MP's fellow Michigander muckraker Michael Moore 'most any day though.

I studied in Leuven, Belgium, the home of Stella Artois. Got to tour the brewery....if memory serves me correctly, each brewery employee got four beers a day gratis. You could have them all during your lunch hour if so inclined.

You can get Stella all over Minneapolis, though it only turned up around here a couple years ago. Inevitably, yes, it tasted better in its hometown.

I worked at the Bitburger brewery in germany in 98, and their beer allotments were thus:

Part-timers or long-term temps = 1/2 liter per day
Full-time Hourlies = 1 liter per day (this was me)
Full-time Salaried = 80 liters a month.

These amounts acrued in an account for you, and you went to a company store on-site and loaded up on anything they made or owned. So there was a light beer, a dark, soda, mineral water, etc. The biggest keg we produced was 50 liters, so picture that every single full-time salaried guy had a built-in (pimptastic, usually) tap in a wall somewhere, and took the other 30 liters in soda / water for the family. But man o man, do you ever get sick of smelling the beer all day and then drinking it all night.

My yearly tolerance for Bitburger (when I come across it) = 1.

I guess. It was refreshingly different, but I don't know about "Best. Evar."

I could see this...it's pretty light and drinkable and would go over well at a cookout or whatever

I always thought Stella was the Fosters of beers. It's been getting me all sick-like since '97.
