one of my yearly summer highlights, the siren festival has announced its first acts.

from its website:

Quote:
New York, NY (May 31, 2005) The Village Voice, the nation's largest alternative weekly newspaper, is excited to announce the initial line-up for the 5th Annual Village Voice SIREN MUSIC FESTIVAL™ at Coney Island, 12:00 noon-9:00 p.m. Scheduled performers include Spoon, Mates Of State, Brendan Benson, VHS Or Beta, Dungen, Q And Not U, The Dears and many more to be announced.

i don't care who else is going to perform, i'm going anyway. it'll be neat to see q and not u perform there. i haven't seen them for the first year out of four in the washington, dc area.

i can't tell you how much it would take me to get me to attend one of these again. i'd rather spend the weekend getting raped by gorillas while on fire.

i drove down from boston last year, got there really late and heard some of blonde redhead while walking on the boardwalk, then i went on the cyclone and left.

i def. want to go again this year. i just want to see dungen really, i could deal with listening to spoon and q and not u from further away.

you guys really hate it that much? i've gone the last two years and gotten there somewhat early so i had pretty choice spots in the front row. except for the shitty bands, i haven't been disappointed.

I always miss this, despite having really wanting to go for the last 4 or 5 years.

I can't really say this line-up gets me too excited, though. At least not yet.

hated? no. but i still would never go again after the hellspawn of the !!!/Modest Mouse sets a few years ago. this is probably a lot to do with modest mouse fans as well, but still....

i'll probably hit this up. i want to see spoo play the new songs live and it'll be a good warm-up for catching them at acl.

The schedule is up too.

The few acts I think I might be interested in are playing different stages. I guess I'll be doing the stage hopping thing.

I might just skip this, though.

ah i didn't even see that. looks like i'll be sticking with the main stage.

my only saul williams experience comes from seeing him open for andrew wk's first show in washington dc in 2002 at an empty 9:30 club. it was an odd pairing to say the least.

I have a question. Should I keep asking my supervisor for that day off, which I may not get since there's an assload of people on vacation that week or should I just shut up about it now and just call in sick that day?

An acquaintance of mine will be playing with his band, Nine Black Alps, so I will probably be going to this years edition of the festival.

Mmmm, Nathan's!
