i'm considering the 60 GB photo ipod, but i've heard that you can't just dump your photo's directly from your camera?
the reason i'd want this is for long trips, so i could dump my memory stick onto the ipod and start with a fresh memory stick each day.
i also heard that everytime you add photos, it deletes the photos already on there. anyone know if this is true?
anyone use their photo ipod's for this kinda stuff?
anyone have any other recommendations other than a laptop for this purpose?

You would need something to connect your memory stick to the Ipod, first off. There's no slot for anything other than the Ipod cable. You need something like this. And as far as I know, no, your photos that were already loaded would not get deleted - that's kind of asinine, isn't it? That'd be like the Ipod deleting music you already had on your Ipod when you load something new.

What is the capacity of a memory stick?

My camera uses SD cards; I have a 30mb and a 60mb but they now have them as big as 1GB which would pretty much be, um, well, a fucking shitload of pictures.

Is memory stick available in larger media sizes as well?

mot, a friend of mine just sent me a link to that connector as well. so, that would do the trick.

and i agree that it would be asinine to delete pics like that, but i wanted to make sure...since i had heard something about that.

as far as memory sticks, i think they make up to 2 GB. i personally have a 1GB, which holds about 290 pics. on my recent trip, i was taking ~ 100-120 pics a day, so i definitely need something to dump my pics to.

If you have your ipod set to automatically synch to what is on your computer and your computer does not have the photo, it could delete it. That is what happens if your computer doesn't have a song on the ipod.

Yes! You're right - I didn't even think about that. That could be a reason why someone's photos would get deleted. Another reason for doing things manually in Itunes . . .

I have one but never use the photo feature. 57 gigs of music, man. Come on!

<--- useless, once again
