I would like recommendations for bands to listen to. Stuff that might appeal to someone who likes Modest Mouse, Of Montreal, The Decemberists, The Arcade Fire, The Magnetic Fields, The Apples In Stereo, Super Furry Animals.

Please (if possible) include a little summary of what the band has to offer or a RIYL.

Thanks.

The Boy Least Likely To - childlike indie pop

The Books - umm.. I don't know

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - off-kilter indie rock with song topics including his dog getting neutered

and...

The Most Serene Republic - "like Broken Social Scene, Jr."

I like every band you listed and I like all these so I don't see why you wouldn't.

I'll second both of these.

Dressy Bessy -- Power pop party led by chick singer. Great stuff. Probably aerodynamics' current favorite band.

Beulah -- Just broke up, but fantastic body of work. Nary a weak album to be found. Evolved well beyond mere E6 status.

I'll third Ariel Pink.

You'd probably like Andrew Bird, if you haven't heard it yet.
