NPR apparently did a story on the reappearance of this long-thought extinct woodpecker that is nicknamed the lord-god bird. Of course, when it comes to the lord/god, who better to ask for a song about said subject than Sufjan?

I heard the story on NPR. It was a good story, and the song is amazing too.

Actually, a few years back The New Yorker had a great article about this possibly extinct bird too.
